Just booked for Saturday.
This wont be my first track day but will be the first time at Marham and first time going to an event from piston heads.
Good man!! Where have you participated before? The Marham event is unlike other venues in that we try (hopefully) to make it more of a club style event rather than a business so the atmosphere and banter in the pits etc is far more friendly! This wont be my first track day but will be the first time at Marham and first time going to an event from piston heads.
That said, if anyone has any suggestions that could improve these events then please feel free to voice them, we can only say no. :-)

What are you bringing this time?
I've got a Toyota Corolla Compressor at the moment. I've got to get the geometry set up and change the gearbox oil before the day. They get a little slated for being a bit wobbly. This one has a few suspenshion mods, so it will be interesting to see how it goes on track.p200msd said:

So far I've done Snetterton 200 & 300, Hethel, Brands Hatch Indy, Silverstone GP and Spa. No airfield days yet so looking forward to a new challenge. That said, if anyone has any suggestions that could improve these events then please feel free to voice them, we can only say no. :-)

Hi,
What's is marham like for stone chippings? I am aware of FOD for airside areas, but does it get small sharp chippings appearing after a few hours of cars tearing around. If there's still time and space I'm contemplating the Ferrari but obsessed with stone chips... Chris
Not great I'm afraid Chris. We went during the summer and after 1 day the front of the cars looked like they had been shot blasted What's is marham like for stone chippings? Luckily they were both dedicated (and cheap) track cars so not worried about the paint, but I would never bring anything nice to Marham. Better to stick to proper circuits. That said it is still a great day out and I will be going again.

Free shot blasting. Never again. What's is marham like for stone chippings? On stone chips, I would rather have people aware of the issue than finding out the hard way, so thanks for raising it - and in response.....
Unsurprisingly, the stone chips arise pretty simply from people following up the ar*e of something else far too close and for far too long, whether that is down the straights and/or through the corners - it’s the only conceivable way that a front end can get pebble dashed.
There are some cars I have seen over 10 years of the events which, frankly, looked like the front end had been shot blasted - TVRs seemed to suffer in particular....but, equally, cars at the same events, having been driven with the issue in mind, have had just as much cornering fun and high speed running without a chip in sight.
The track is very wide to allow lateral separation on straights (which is the only place to overtake) and the numbers/spacing of cars longtitudinally around the track allows any driver (provided they keep the "red mist" at bay) to keep plenty of free space all around the car - yes, you might have to back off for a corner occasionally in a lap to keep distance from another, but that is little compromise with 8 hours of track time available - and, for the latter half of the afternoon session, the track has very few cars out.... Vinyl film is one way which can also help, but the best way is to stay clear of other cars as indicated above - that’s about the best advice I can give.

I went a lot in the 2007-2010 days, bi-annually, and never noticed any stone chips. However they may have helped the appearance of my E30...
I'm tempted to turn up in my bone stock E46 320d touring daily... I haven't been for years and I was hoping to run in a mate's MX5 with him, but it's still in bits!

Not sure how the organisers would view it with the precautions against Foreign Object Damage, but to be extra cautious you could always just buy a roll of 2" wide masking tape and put a layer of tape over the vulnerable areas of the front of the car. Easy to put on/remove and only costs a few quid.

Not really an issue, as we have to do a complete FOD check/sweep at the end of the event.Mark
I'm in!
Recently booked Saturday for not only myself but my much prettier other half too. I usually attend track events with my car fitted with an array of video cameras to capture all the action, resembling something like a covert media car lol. This event will be no different, infact will be adding cams to both our cars. I've previously made a short vid of our 2012 visit and some more can be found on my youtube channel.

So, if anyone would like some footage of their cars in action just pop over and say Hi or 'chase me down' ontrack. I shouldn't be too hard to find, not many of the Saab Mafia able to make it this time round.

Pretty sure there's been a TVR with the front end covered in gaffer tape at a previous event. I usually add some to my headlights (and to secure the odd loose bit of trim!).Spottedlaurel said:

A couple of questions for the trackday team:
How are numbers this time?
Is it possible to add an extra driver to my booking?
Thanks.
P.S. I've sent a message with additional details of a support vehicle.
Numbers are sufficient on both days to make the event viable for us to run - similar to last time at just above 40 each day so far - although as it's all for charity of course I'd like more, so everybody please encourage mates or through other forums! How are numbers this time?

You should still be able to add an extra driver and details of support vehicle - PM me if you haven't had a reply within a day or two.
