PHEA TRACK: Snetterton Track Day - Wednesday 20th July
Discussion
brilliant day, thanks to eddy for all the hard work organising the event, and a great bunch of people to share the day with
darren, did you get the ambassador to his destination safely?
i had an absolute blast of a day, the car did well and i accomplished my mission of destroying that set of tyres.
when is the next one?

1st off thanks to Darren & Eddy for setting this event up and for the nibbles, drinks and the fantastic facilities you got hold of for us
It was a pleasure seeing you all again and looking forward to the next event (which i will try my best to make it to).
I very much enjoyed my 1st track day and the car never did miss a beat (benefits of not having an oil temp gauge I guess), except for it saving weight by losing the centre caps. But aside from that was a great learning experience and hopefully can get better with my lines etc (i definitely was the weak link in the car).
Definitely will have to do this again, will think about whether to use this on the track again (with spare tyres etc) or potentially get something for track days etc (will see on that one)
I have put a link to the photos I purchased of my car from photo gallery, the password to view it is pistonheads

Also glad you got your car back home no problem Darren

I thought I'd say a little more now I've recovered from the heat. I don't like heat. I'll put that down to being of Eastern European decent.
The two FE dealer days I've now done at Snetterton have been my favourite at the track. It's brilliant to go out and get overtaken by familiar cars and drivers rather than get overtaken by a bunch of people I don't know Quite a lot of proper race cars out there too.
The car did OK. Still had to back off a lot with climbing coolant temperatures as well as pulling a little bit of timing and adding some ECT compensation into the map just to keep it safe. I think I'm on the way to sorting it's heat management, despite the day being hotter and running another 50bhp, it wasn't running as hot as last year. I think I've also unseated a gasket somewhere around the turbo - there'll be swearing if it doesn't just torque back down again.
You never know, I might do something to make it handle properly one day.
I didn't actually get any passenger laps in this time! Doh!
There was a lot of melted and shredded rubber on track. A sizable chuck of which of which ended up airborne and bouncing across my roof
I think I've been out on track and observed all of the hyper hatches now. I've not seen anything move like that A45.

a hastily thrown together video. if i had bothered capturing the ecu logs it would have been a bit more interesting. still, nice to chuck the car about a bit
that lap is 6 seconds off my peers in the CSCC, but considering i wasnt trying hard and its on low boost, shows the car is quick taking coram at 87mph is fun, one handed...
The only real footage I managed, the rest was sat in the car park before the battery went flat!
