Hi all.

I am looking for a bit of help finding a nice hotel in or around cambridge.

The other half and i are going there for a day or two over friday and the weekend. Does anyone know any good hotels, looking for something a bit better than a holiday inn type hotel but the budget does have a limit so no 5 star ones please!

Any things i shouldn't miss, should make time to see in particular? ears

Many thanks in advance. :thumbsupsmilie:

Hi Marty,
As for things to do, Duxford will keep you occupied for the day: http://duxford.iwm.org.uk/

Quy mill has a good reputation, its right next to the A14 (but its not noisy or anything), and right next to one of the main roads into cambridge.

thanks for the info, tried the regent hotel but they are closed until 2nd January

The other hotel looks good and the museums should while away the hours, thanks again.

I haven't stayed in any hotels in Cambridge as I live only 30 mins away, but The Royal Hotel on Trumpington Road always looks good when I pass it. It's also very close to the city centre.

As for things to do, I would second Simpos' advice about Duxford, espiecally as now the new hanger is finally finished.

The Fitzwilliam museum I found fascinating, although not to everyones taste.
The Botanical gardens are also worth a wander around. If it's not too cold you can get someone to take you downm the river in a punt behind the colleges.

Some collagues of mine stay in The Felix on Huntingdon Road from time to time and see to think it's fairly good. It is, however, fairly expensive.

Other colleagues from the USA don't rate the Garden House or the Crowne Plaza as anything special. This isn't implying they're bad, just that they're "just a hotel" rather than offering up a memorable experience. Historically I've not heard good things about the University Arms, but in fairness that may no longer be the case.
