Nice to see such pleasant chat going on. PJ S you could show the "folks on the hill" a thing or two. I have never seen OFFS on a thread before and as I am "very inocent" what does it mean????????????

You post on average 3 times per month - using the saying of "quality over quantity", is this really a quality post?
Other than to add your tuppenceworth, was there any point in wasting 1 of your 3 posts this month, on this thread?

:sigh:

If it's 5K the insurance company might Category D it - surely that's more than 60% of the car's value?

PS For rnd's information OFFS = Oh For F*ck's Sake, U should be able to work out the missing letter!

If agreed upon by the insurance engineer, then depending on valuation, it'd be almost bang on 60%.

I think they'll have over estimated - rear exhaust is available in many smaller parts, so it'll only be a single baffle and pipework to Y section rather than the whole Y section +, which they may have done.
Similarly, boot has bent corner - repair rather than replace saves a few hundred.
Mind you, even with those few hundreds, I still can't fathom where they plucked £5K from - must be hellish labour charges or something.
Suffice it to say, it'll be interesting to compare the quotes and see where the differences lie.

Is it common practice for repairers to spot weld the rear quarter every 6" rather than the production line 12" ?
If not, then again, TK looks like getting the nod, since this is what they do.
Just curious.

Interesting combination of cars there. How does the Chim compare to the Evo in a straight line dash?

It does not compare. I never thought I would have anything faster than the 5ltr Chimaera but but the EVO eats it for breakfast. The only thing that lets the Evo down is the brakes. Had it out at Kirkiston and after a few laps the brakes went off but I wont be doing to much track stuff in it as it is my every day car so I am very happy and if I want to drive something "slow" I can take the chim out for a "tootle" about.Lucky the roof will not come off evo or chim would be sold (that is what worried the wife). She is a fully fledged "TVR petrol head" and she calls the EVO "the Jap scrap"

They are two very different cars obviously - small 4 cylinder turbocharged Vs. big eight cylinder NA. They will have very different power/torque delivery and the four cylinder will appear quicker than it is whereas the torquey V8 will undersell itself.

I think Rnd might be surprised if he compared them side by side in a straight-line on the track!

There's no doubt with all those gizmos the Evo will be quicker point-to-point on a twisty road though.

In Rnd's case it is a mid-life crisis thing BUT I'm sure Mrs Rnd is just glad it's Jap Crap rather than a younger bimbo keeping his pecker up!

Mrs rnd has just read this and I cannot stop her laughing. She keeps saying the pecker never seems to be up.
WHAT IS SHE TRYING TO TELL ME
I have always said that fast cars are better than sex as it lasts longer and you can do it again and again and the car does not need a smoke and a wee sleep in between to recover.

At Least we kept Mrs RND happy at Kirkistown, Mr RND was not to please with no brakes,

Nice to see that old age has it up sides, Jap Crap is safe as a wheel chair,

TVR makes you drive better, well at least you don;t run into anything........
