Do LTNZ have a preferred publication for meeting the requirement proving a vehicle (Corvette) is iconic etc.

It appears subjective, so will anything do?

Not fussy. Anything relatively mainstream will do. The rule says a "commercially produced motoring publication", which is pretty broad.

Cheers Stu, I'm probably worrying too much! NZ press is a bit thin on the ground on Corvettes so will widen the search biggrin

Did I say I got my permit? wink

anyways.... is there a loophole to re-issue a new LHD/SIV permit to a car already here and only recently permit-ted?
I only ask as a recently registered LHD car on Trademe has the phrase 'Assistance in issuing a new LHD permit will be supplied'.
How can this be?

He has emailed to say: "if your only trying to get info from me it may pay to do your own homework with the right people as I have...
I rang LTNZ and spoke to the LHD people in Wellington before I did anything." scratchchin

No, there is not. Once a car is certified/registered, it cannot be issued with another permit.

I would be interested to hear what the seller has been told about this...

Last year I posted this:

Dan M said:
NZTA have allocated all of the 200 SIV permits for this year so if you're thinking of bringing a car in you need to apply to get on the 2013 list. They are thinking about raising it to 500 but this may not take effect by next year.
Dan
The quota hasn't been upped from 200 to 500 and the 200 have already been allocated for 2013.

I've seen no updates but as it's on the internet it must be true biggrin

Left hand drive permit can be transferred and confirmation form the LTSA can be provided.

NZTA may have allowed it on compassionate grounds; the ad says: "Family health issues force very regrettable sale of my dream car!!"

I wonder if they've seen his other items for sale on TM. There must be an explanation, maybe the guy is 'selling on behalf' because surely a car dealer/broker wouldn't lie to NZTA.

Taking the piss. I'd report the seller to the NZTA.

I don't know what the hell's going on anymore. They've moved all the permitting to the Palmerston North office so I'm right out of the loop with all of this. Still, I'll ask the question tomorrow...

He left the organisation a few months back, and his SIV work was moved to a different team.

Maybe I'll have to contact the new team and ask how I can do it!
I'm not wanting to, just want to find out why it can be done within the 4 year restriction.

This appears to be the case. It isn't going to be as straightforward as simply applying for new permit though.
