I just missed out on the Fraser 7 I wanted-It's in the Auto Trader and the latest CC but it's gone (sob!)
Anyone know of others for sale hereabouts?-Happy to pay up to 25k for one (this one went for 20)

Pffft fraser..... get yourself a Beattie Clubman :P There's one that runs an Altezza BEAMS 3s-GE engine that is one of the fastest track-cars in NZ..... ok so it's a fair chunk more than oyur budget but pfffft :P

thanks for the response-yeah, I've emailed Neil, but no response yet-not a great incentive for him to put me on to a 2nd hander when he could sell me a new one.
Yes, the beattie is a tempting thing too. thing is, i'm probably not as au fait with driving blindingly fast things as many contributors to this forum-haven't driven on a track since doing the jim Russell Racing school in 1980 while I was in the UK for 2 years when I was 17-19 (blimey, that dates me)-So maybe I should just buy that little starlet that's in the CC and go have fun in some car club events-Thing with the Fraser is the club and the events and the wide range of abilities and skills and therefore opportunities to learn a thing or two.

I think a lot of the car clubs around (including the 'one-marque' clubs) will welcome all sorts of vehicles and owners.
I've been toying with buying a Fraser too but I really must finish off the Chimaera before I think about the next toy!
I don't think you'll have any problem with handling the performance of a Frase or a Beattie as the very fact you are talking about not being the most practiced track-driver in itself would suggest you have the right mentality!

Hi there the Lotus club would be perfect for you, plenty of 7's of all sorts. We take anyone who has a keen interest in the marque, you dont have to own a Lotus to be in
Our President drives an old Triumph Dolomite Sprint on track days LOL. We run classic trials at Puke and Taupo were you arent allowed to exeed 1:20 or something around Puke for example, the idea is to get consistent times not speed. Suits all the lower cc cars. Driver training days, classic sprints are all good fun and a great family day out. So there is a suitable club for the car your looking at.

250HP factory (late model 200SX with the 6-speed), 300HP with filter, exhaust, intercooler and factory turbo, then if you want to go a full-house Japanese tuned engine you can get 700HP out of it- thats well over 2bar boost though.
The biggest problem with putting engines like that into Frasers or other little cars is cooling and trying to get a big enough intercooler in. You'd probably want Methanol-water injection and a dry sump with reservoir in the back (weight balance). You're also going to completely destroy the weight balance of the car I imagine (although from memory the engine is behind the front axle anyway?). Still, a worthy project, and one I'd love to do myself or see done.

gottit and it's a beauty! 2 litre, twin 40 dcoes, Big lumpy comp clutch-my left leg won't need to go to the gym!

Congratulations! Very jealous. Get some piccies posted up asap. Next time it starts raining, put the roof on, I think you'll find it stops a fair bit of the moisture from getting into the cabin! 
That Dolly is very sexy, but not too sure about the whole turbo'd aspect. What's it got under the bonnet? Cosworth, Nissan???? I suppose the 'purest' turbo set-up would have to be Saab 99!

Roof- schmoof! Yes, I'll get a photo of it up. It's still up on the Fraser site from the last time it was for sale some 2 years? ago.
I owned 2 Saab 99s 10 years ago (both normally aspirated) and went to look at a particularly elderly one (1972) for bits, only to find that it had a triumph motor in it (factory fitted)very odd. But then my brother inlaw in Aus has a nasty Toyota with a holden motor in it. Go figure!
