Hi....is there anybody or a company who can advise on the feasibility of me bringing a car (probably a TVR) to NZ for a motoring holiday please? Many thanks.

Any vehicle coming into NZ will need to be inspected. For reasons unknown the "warrant of fitness", (similar to an MOT) is much tougher for an old imported car rather than one already on NZ roads.

Usually all the trim comes out of the car (inspecting for any rust), the brakes discs will be checked for thickness, and I think the brake pads and shoes have to "original equipment".

Experience suggests ALL cars coming from the UK are deemed to have rust, and you will have to prove it doesn't.

The personal injury levy to pay is cheap, and you don't need any other insurance.

A temporary import will just need the same basic WoF inspection as any other car already in the country. The invasive strip down, brake inspection etc is part of entry certification, which is for vehicles that are getting permanently registered here.

Thanks to all, but I've now given up on the idea!! Far too much hassle....I would however be interested in knowing if it is possible to hire a TVR or anything else that's just a bit different in NZ for a motoring holiday.

This is the only active "sports" car rental company that I could find: http://www.devinerentals.com/ - not exactly what you were after, but I think that doesn't exist here.....
