Finally what you have all been waiting for. I rushed home after work and Simon had already cleaned inside the front boot compartment and replaced several bolts for stainless ones. I vacuumed the car and moved it outside for its virgin wash. All the best stuff used on this puppy. It looks amazing, the colour is really bright and really picks out all the colours of the sky, nice.

The speedy gauge I never got past 130km, the needle goes a loooong way around.

For George R. Simon wasnt allowed to move his stuff on MY side of the garage, only for making my art frames but thats it!! tongue out

Just had to have a wee peek through the door to make sure he's a happy chappy! I put its cover on for bed. Still cant believe its in there.
Got a few joy rides to do tom, so its going to be busy one biggrin

I have the std sized number plates made as well which are smaller in length and may stick the smaller one on the front and leave the euro one for the rear. I will muck around with them today and see what looks best. I dont think I am going to put a sticker there esp if its only going to draw attention to the cops and something to ping me for.

Great stuff Kylie. Nothing like getting presents after Christmas aye smile I've always liked the Esprit... considered several times about buying one but never new of this model. I remember back when I was a teenager and the owners of "The Old Flame" restruant owned a Pearl White Esprit Turbo that they always parked out in front of their resturant. I used to gaze at it as we drove passed. Funny thing is now that I can afford one I wouldn't consider buying that model.

In regards to the front plate, look into your sticker options. As I said on a previous thread I had some made EXACTLY like the orginal plate. Silver backing, white boarder, everything. From 5 metres you'd be hard pressed to tell the differance. I just went to the www.plates.co.nz website and made my plate, saved it and then emailed the file to my graphics company I used. You can also 3M them so they don't look so naff after a while. Food for thought.

Enjoy in good health!

Hi James, interesting you say that you like Esprits cool to know. I like the sound of the 89carbed Turbo way better than the V8, but like the extra torque of the V8, pros and cons of each smile Sorted S1 cars in the UK are going up in value as with really mint Sport 300's are fetching almost new car prices, S4S remain steady too. There are of course models which are not though and you can easily bring in a do up 89 - 1992 SE for not much change from $40K landed here, which I think is a bargain of the century for one of these (a lot of car for the money seriously!). As with anything of this era you would end up throwing another 5-10K or so getting it sorted over time.

With the plate you got me thinking, I really dont know what to do now.
Back to the drawing board!

Third day in the saddle and all is well. Went up the road to Clark House which the RNZAF's Aviation Medicine Unit (AMU) for some pics as I love this historic building. Went for another drive afterwards and continued to clean the car when I got home. Great day smile

Thanks fellas, I am over the moon. I was meant to visit the Show at Ellerslie yesterday, but got carried away driving and perving my own car wink Seriously though it was not good weather in the morning. Did fine up in the arvo.

Had about an hour of nice weather. Horizontal rain the rest of the time. Completely fcuked up what would have been an awesome day... was still an okay day, but certainly ruined by the weather.

I really felt bad for all the cars that were to go into the ring as those guys spend ages getting them perfect. That would be annoying! Out our way the afternoon was great had no rain, just humid as hell.

Old car yes was Black Beauty, this one I thinks a fella. Its got two big dangly nuts underneath and a rather large rear tea tray pointing up and out on alloy uprights biggrin Theres really nothing girly about that!
So I guess I can officially say I am having a full on love affair with him! Now for a name hehe

OK.... I got some more exciting news about the car. I was contacted by a well to do gentleman that is the head of Lotus Engineering at Hethel and is keeping tabs on the car, pretty blown away about this. Its clearly a big deal for them having one of these cars leave the homeland apparently. So with a few friendly emails of reassurance of its new location and some prodding into its history at the factory, I now have all its build specification records and which days the assembly of certain components took place. More exciting is that the UK number plate that I have states that it was registered by Lotus and a company car at Hethel. It was driven by the head of Engineering at that time for the first 18,000miles of its life, before sold through a dealer which now explains my rubber stamps in my service book in more detail biggrin The gent seems to think the motor was run in by engineering staff though smile funny that, bet they had fun using up their tea breaks for a blat around the track!! Lucky sods smile
