What had he done to cause that? Shouldn't have been on the brakes at that point.I wondered what had caused the "interesting" tyre marks when I was there on the 14th...
Could have been much worse I suppose.
I agree with other observers, It looks to me like a throttle lift with some right turn applied, the car seemed very close to the right hand track marker though, and might even have touched the ripple strip whilst braking perhaps causing the unsettling.

Think he lifted off sharply and was slow catching it. Given that it was a Silvia, and sounded modified, it wouldn't surprise me if it had an aftermarket LSD, some of these things are a bit brutal in the way that they lock up and can unsettle a car quite a bit like that.
Either way, that's a common spot to go off on when it's slippery, so who knows, could have been some oil down, a patch of damp or perhaps the driver was just too aggressive with his turn-in and lift/off.

It's a common spot to hit the wall (just ask Ian Wilson)... it's one of the few places on the track where spinning almost always involves an impact because of the speed and the proximity of the tyre retaining wall.
It's most common because there's often a river across the track there when it rains... but it's also a common lift-off spot at the kink past the old pit lane exit and sometimes things can just go wrong there.
In an Elise you should be braking miles past that point and still on the power there, so the car will be more stable.
