Thanks!
The only pain in the A really was missing out on the 2012 SIV quota as the car arrived in August 2012. Subsequently it was all complied and on the road by the end of January 2013.
(I'm surprised i've not had any other spots since i've been using it as my daily drive every day since Jan around the Mt Eden area)
Don't get me started on that pathetic SIV rule Matt - the quota is getting abused by people ( should say dealers ?? ) , just looking at the numbers & vehicle types that are being bought in , it makes a mockery of the whole importation rules in this country about having a late model/ safe fleet on NZ roads . Good on ya for bringing in something unique & absolutely flying the flag for the SIV rule book . ( How many late model lefthook American V8 coke cans are for sale on Trademe right now - I rest my case ! )
Next time I see you in the TVR I'll give you a wave .

I agree with you mate the SIV method is definitely being abused by dealers, put it this way; I won't be buying any late model Camaro's, Mustangs etc regardless of how much BHP they have, they're only good for going in a straight line anyway.Good on ya for bringing in something unique & absolutely flying the flag for the SIV rule book . Hmm what to bring in next... Exige S1, Noble M400, TVR Sagaris (if they take a massive drop in price)...
Cheers,
Matt

When the RS goes I'm looking at a 02-04 Honda NSX-R . If they don't go sky high $$ wise .

Was there a Brit car day in Akl last weekend? Kept seeing rare-ish Brit cars: Jensen Interceptor, some strange Imp-based kit-car, and Hurricane's TVR as featured on this post earlier (on Ponsonby Road-Sun Pm)
I saw that Jensen Interceptor too.Not sure if anything was on, I was just going out for a good old fang.

You will need to be a very rich man - in Japan right now the only one with a stated asking price is yours for 30 million Yen - $388k NZ plus GST. OK, this is for a very low mileage 2006 final car, but you get the idea.As so few of these 02+ 3.2s were made, and as the Japanese hold this car in such high regard, they have always been expensive - never selling for less than list price since the end of production. Indeed, this final car is for sale at over double the original list price......
The earlier '92-'95 Type R 3.0l with the pop-up headlights usually sell for around their original 10M Yen sales price, even after 20 years..... unless wrecked or abused.
Another factor is that the Japanese don't seem to be that enamoured with the prospect of the New NSX not being made in Japan - this only adds to the halo surrounding the original NSX.

Yup I'm aware of the pricing & the fact there are no R's in NZ - the car you quote at 30mil yen at Vogue Sports - they have a reputation of very high pricing & I think the reason that R is so dear is that it's the last R off the line ( or so they're stating ) . I have other contacts south in Japan that have R's for sale from time to time & keep a ready eye on them . Like I say my hands are tied until the RS goes - whether that sells remains to be seen. Agree with your last statement , the new NSX ( not sure why they're calling it that even , NSX = New Sportscar eXperiment , not really new in my eyes )being both designed & built in US will undoubtedly be good for residuals on existing NA1/2 cars . You only have to look at the UK cars , especially the NA2 facelift examples that have increased at least 20K sterling in the past 4 years & one of recent sold for over 80kGBP just last week .

Spotted Iain in his Caterham with full wet weather gear in weather that was bad enough to cancel the ferry, close the airport and cut power to a few thousand houses. Thats dedication.
Spotted a series one Lotus Esprit in Rangiora a couple of times over the last few weeks, once outside Beaurepairs and again with no lights/windows outside a panel beaters.
But I saw something special two weeks ago. A GENUINE ORIGINAL Lancia Stratos at Euromarque in Christchurch. Been in the country a few years according to the service manager. The owner has three Ferraris too, but has never bothered getting the Stratos complied. It was in their workshop getting some brake work done so it could go through the process. Had UK plates on it still. The best bit was I got to sit in it, might never wash my bum again! I did have to speak very nicely to the service manger to let me have a look, but he was really good and opend it up for me. I explained that I was building a replica, seemed to help. Oh yeah and I followed quite a nice Merc SLS on the way there.
