now this is going to sound remarkably ill-informed (because it is) but on my way back from Taupo on Sunday pm, as I neared Auckland (Drury-ish) I saw the most extraordinary early- 20th century racer heading south. The driver was in full period gear including red scarf covering face and trailing in the breeze. I wanted to rubberneck but was driving -anyone else see it?
a bit like this...? http://www.conceptcarz.com/view/photo/214063,13974...

Teretonga yesterday - yellow Esprit V8GT, silver S1 Elise, a collection of Redline Sprints, an XTR2, assorted other fast things...and a couple of MX5s
I think that might be cheating as far as a "spotted" post goes Teretonga is a VERY interesting track . . . a few offs but no serious crashes. I've got a mechanical from the last session to sort before Wednesday

If your in Timmers and need some tools and extra hands I am sure my father would happily help. Hes pretty clued up for stuff like this Let me know G
That would be cool and much appreciated if it comes to that. I'm stopping in to a Suzuki dealer in Alexandra tomorrow on the way to Timaru to see if I can get an error-code check. The original hayabusa dash and the kitchen sink were about the only things I didn't bring with me Crown Range Road is "O" for awesome. Didn't take the Westie, but the SS Commy liked it
If that ever becomes hillclimb I'm coming back.

I'm in Timaru already and nice weather here (for now), but it was certainly wet and wild on the way up today. Also happy to lend a hand tomorrow if you need it, though I can't claim too much in the way of technical ability
Know what you mean about the Crown Range...Lindis Pass for you tomorrow

Tremendous roads. Lindis Pass was where the Elise ECU died when I drove it down to QT from Christchurch. Was still fun even with a chronic misfire.
Hope you got some vid of Teretonga Graham.
Sorry to hear about your ECU, where are you going to get yours looked at?Hope you got some vid of Teretonga Graham.
EFI Tech in Auckland do a fantastic job on the Esprit V8s, but imagine yr running some else other than Lotus? I beleive theres also a crowd in Nelson good for ECU repair too.
Was in 2006 Kylie. I spent three months changing every sensor, the distributor, coil etc. etc. and then eventually discovered that the air intake pressure sensor was located - yes you guessed it - inside the sealed ECU.. Lol. A Lotus special. And guess what sensor was malfunctioning? :-)
Ditched it for the popular Emerald (Doesn't use all of the original sensors) and I must say it has been nearly three years without a hitch. Thing was just better all round with an aftermarket ECU. Better idle, torque, fuel consumption. Everything really.
Glad it died.
