I actually like the sound of a flat four, - just as much as I used to love standing in the Forest with my dad as a young kid listening to the DCOE bark of the rally cars. (Funny how my first car had sidedrafts).
BUT, there comes a point where music, no matter how sweet it sounds becomes noise, cos its too loud. I like music - NOT noise.
They're quite rare though, off the top of my head I can't think of many cars that have had a flat four fitted.BUT, there comes a point where music, no matter how sweet it sounds becomes noise, cos its too loud. I like music - NOT noise.
I cannot see why such a big issue?
If a Ferrari, Maserrati, Lambo or Porsche with an aftermarket/non-production/bespoke stainless exhaust is found to break the 'Saxo' noise limit rule, then - tough, cos it should be the same rules for everyone!
There's plenty of bespoke pipe benders who can make you quieter system if your existing one is fubar.
