As the title really - anybody to recommend? Confidence in accuracy and operator skill is more important than cost.

+1 for elite. Used them on over the years on Alfa / TVR / Clio / Range Rover. Very professional outfit and good value too (£59 for 4 wheel alignment)

Update in case it's useful to anyone.

Most garages in Essex with the Hunter 4 wheel alignement charge way over £100 for a suspension geometry reset.

The Tyre Shop in Witham did a full reset on proper Hunter equipment for me for £50 on the Barge. Lee the guy who did the work really knows his stuff too and took time to make sure it was spot on - and I found out a couple of days ago there's a garage advertising 4 wheel laser alignment for £30 in Heybridge near Maldon.

It did - Castor, Camber, Toe, Steer Ahead and Thrust Angle all adjusted.

I'd had Hunter 4 wheel alignment done before so knew pretty much what to expect. I got the usual before and after printout and the guy spent about an hour carefully setting every angle up. My Barge geometry is adjusted by offset camber bolts, not shims so no dismantling is required.

I questioned why so cheap compared with other garages - they told me it's a fairly new buisness and they are keen to get established.

Drives like a new car now smile

+1 for The Tyre Shop - did a top job on My Leon Cupra, and a lot of my local Porsche Club members use them too, and are very happy campers.

agreed there,

Took the radical to them in Jan, spent 4 hours tinkering with it for me, the total cost? £63.00. biggrin

Totally agree Steve, where else can you get that kind of service?
They do both the Subaru and the Clio for me regularly and I've had nothing but superb service from them. Even when I request my own setup on the Subaru, nothing is too much trouble.

They're also situated next door to Revolve/Roush/Mountune and setup their BTCC cars.

Can't help but think he should change the name though. It was amusing once, but I wince every time I drive past.

The Tyre Shop in Witham
A thumbs up for Tyre Shop Witham, where I went this morning off the back of this recommendation. They fitted & balanced two tyres that I supplied, balanced the other two wheels and did a full four wheel alignment including toe & camber (both ends) and thrust angle for less than a hundred quid including VAT. They didn't set caster as it's fixed on my Golf. They had the car on the ramp within five minutes of my arrival and seemed a genuine bunch.

The car is transformed. Not only has the noise and vibration from out-of-balance front wheels and sawtoothed rear tyres gone, but all the trim rattles have disappeared with them. Even the mrs commented on the handling as she entered a roundabout too quickly, again smile
