Still not recognising my car, had 3 trips over during the charge times in 2 days. FFS.
Starting to explain why they want us previous Dart Tag users to retain the tags on our screens still.
Mine neither. As ANPR is being used to record usage the Dart Tag is redundant. I specifically asked this question of a Dart Charge operative when they made a complete Horlicks of transferring my account (never sent me an e-mail or anything by post prior to the switch and I had to sort it out on the phone: including a 45 minute wait to be connected to a human being as well).

If there is a problem with the new system, they can revert back and plunder our old accounts
It makes no sense at all to require the tag to still be used unless their fancy new ANPR system is pants. The tag is no longer in my car (it's now tucked away in a drawer at home until they ask for its return) and it's staying that way. They can whistle. I won't be concerned unless and until I get one of these love letters. Then the fun and games will begin.

Yep, same here. All 3 of my tags are now on a shelf in the kitchen. One of them had packed up anyway.

Putting aside the politics of paying for a bridge numerous times, the system worked really well for me on New Years Day. I have set up an account, put a few quid in there and it all worked perfectly.

A failing ANPR system would explain the "keep your distance" signs when going over the bridge. I think I'll remove my dart-tag.

Just had my first "dart charge" December statement through.

1st dec £67.28
31st dec £67.28.

My lads in vans have made over 20 trips during this time.

Needless to say I'm liking this new system.

Interesting, I've been across over 12 times with my trade plates on covering the reg no. And only two trips have shown yet been across in my car which is registered and it shows within half an hour,

It occurred to me as I went through there last week that cars could easily be obscured from view by larger vehicles between them and the cameras.

Hmm tried that, but even the big truck in front of me (as we crawled through the cameras) did not stop me getting charged. They must cop you from behind as well.

You need to be in a HGV sandwich. wink Not a recommendation though as it's a high risk environment.

fk and bks....forgot to pay for my crossing on Sat afternoon. I guess paying this morning is too late to avoid being stiffed for £35?

Yeah gave it a go....seems like it takes upto 24 hours to see if it applies the payment to that crossing.

What's the crossing like now south in the mornings?

I've got a 07:50 Eurotunnel crossing on Wednesday, so will be crossing around 06:30. It has always been flowing pretty well at those times, but I've not used it since the changes.

It should be fine barring any unforeseen holdup. I use it at around 9 am at which time it was always stacked up over the bridge, now you go through at 30-40mph only slowing for the chicane they've put in.

Well seems like my payment was set against my Saturday crossing even though I missed the midnight the following day payment deadline. Maybe there's a grace period for first time offenders/idiots like me! thumbup

Vehicle Y353XOC
Payment date 12/01/2015
Payment amount £2.50 (1 crossings)
You have made crossings against the payment as follows:
Date Time Direction Class Charge
10/01/2015 12:32 The A282 Trunk Road Dartford Crossing Southbound Class B £2.50

A guess here - below the surface the whole thing is in chaos and they're happy that you've paid, no matter that it's late. Might be worth editing your registration though, just in case. [/paranoia]

Had a quality conversation with them last night, I needed to pay for two crossings in a hire car that I have for a few days whilst my company car is in for repair.
I told the operator that I wanted to pay for two crossings yesterday, but she couldn't get it in her head that I didn't own the car, "but what about the crossings you made on the 9th of Dec and the 17th"
Hopefully I won't be charged for future crossings of that vehicle, because she wanted to add it to my account!

I'd love to see the revenue figures comparison for before and after the system was implimented. It sounds as if they could be losing out big time. They'll be throwing the barriers back up at this rate....

Hidden by the price increase. We are paying for the naughty people that don't.
