Does anybody know if the toll has vat added, I have just opened a account and paid in £100, is that including vat or is vat not chargeable.

Not sure, but did you get a receipt? I've set up myself with an account and credited it, but no receipt of payment has come through.

If VAT is applicable it will already have been included unless they clearly state that VAT is additional which they don't.

I can't see how that is going to work. If you have £10 and cross four times at £2.50 a go your balance will be £0. I only use it once or twice a year, why can't I just pay for what I use rather than pre-paying.

Its a bit like the oyster card for the bus/train/tube. you load it up with funds then us it until it runs out then put more money on it. But now you can pay with your debit card and just pay for what you use. Why can't this be the same, you just swipe your card att the toll rather than toss money in a basket..

Yes it's a complete con. We've had a French tag for years with Sanef (the very company doing the system at Dartford). The Sanef tag in France bills my credit card as and when I use it - none of this prepay nonsense.

No, Vat isn't applicable to tolls/ congestion charging.

I wonder if still having a tag in a vehicle after 30th of November is required to get the discounted rate???

I've noticed they've put signs up this week warning of delays (lol, where they been all these years?) as work will commence late Nov to Spring 2015.....

Presumably then based on that timeframe the barriers etc will remain for the time being but the ability to cash pay will be replaced a/ ANPR from end of the month. Last time I drove through I thought that they were cutting it fine to get the work done by the end of this year. So pay more; expect even more delays etc & the inevitable clusterfk that will materialise as the bulk of people crossing won't have a clue what to do rolleyesbanghead.

I suspect a lot of the "personalised emails with instructions" will have ended up in spam folders. Does anybody have a link to the site where you transfer your tag account to a charge account?

Like someone said above, a complete clusterfk!

I'm surprised there aren't signs up all over the place especially around the tolls telling people that from the 30th November no money will be taken. I noticed one of the matrix signs between junction 30 and 29 (i.e. heading away from the crossing!!) was saying Dart Charge from the 30th November plus a sign between junction 2 and 3 (i.e. heading away from the crossing!!) saying "Change in payment method wef end of November".

That won't work. There's a unique code sent with the email that you have to enter when creating the new account that links to your current account.

If you haven't received an e-mail or postal verification code call 0300 300 0120.

Those without a Dart-Tag who want to set up a Dart Charge account start here.

Pay as you go (you can do it afterwards just like the London congestion charge).

Found this time lapse video re work being done on the southern approach to the crossing.

That time lapse video is good.

Quick question though.

Why are the two gantries the put up on the off ramp of the bridge so close together?

Anyone know?

I've got to go down to the Connect Plus office on Monday. I'll ask at the control centre opposite and see if anyone there knows the answer.

So will we be able to pay automatically as we do with London congestion charge - i.e debit a registered debit/credit card on a monthly basis? - I did not take up and fund the Dart Tag system by prepaying in advance - and I certainly will not prepay the tunnel tolls - friggin' liberty expecting hundreds of thousands of road users funding the system!

This is all going to be absolute chaos judging by this morning fiasco.

I hadn't received any email or letter re migrating our work tag account (4 cars)which I am the account holder for, so I rang the number helpfully provided earlier. Thank you.

Half an hour on hold till at last a human.

Account number please..
XXXXXX
We have no account with that number please repeat.
XXXXXX
No, no account registered.
Siiiigh. Yes there is I have it in front of me, I have been operating it since 2008 and topped it up at the beginning of November.
Your name.
XXXXXX
Address
XXXXXX etc etc.
No nothing showing.
But I have the invoice here in front of me with those details, so you seem to have them then!
Ok registration of vehicle 1
XXXXXX
Err no,there is no car of that registration registered with the DVLA.
Err yes there is, I can see it from my window.
No, can you repeat?
XXXXXX
No, not registered.
YES it is.
Make
XXXXXX
Colour
XXXXXX
Ok, next vehicles
XXXXXX, this actually went without problems.

I'm sure there was something else to do with payment but so annoyed I can't remember.

If they cannot do a simple swap from a customer of six years, what hope is there for more complicated ones.

I have little faith that mine will go through smoothly.

I have requested confirmation but not holding my breath. As Our account and my car and me appear not to exist maybe I should have just ignored the procedure. I bet they would have found me soon enough then if wanting outstanding payment.

Utter shambles.

The new people wont have any of your details if you haven't migrated your account yourself, I doubt they'll do it for you. What you should have received is a code via email so you could do it all on line. I did mine last week and now have six cars registered, I'm just waiting to see if my balance is automatically transferred, I wont be holding my breath on that one.

I explained when I rang that I hadn't received any email or letter. I rang last Weds too and was told if I hadn't by today then to ring.
The guy this morning said the reason I hadn't had an email or letter was because my account didn't exist. They must have info sent to them by Dart Tag.
Hence him saying it was now migrated, after all the toing and froing.

To be fair, we've dealt with Sanef (the company running the new Dart charge system) for a long time regarding our French tag and they've always been very helpful despite the language barrier, especially when we had to remove/add my wife's card from/to the account after the bank flagged it as being cloaned.

Then again, what's happening to those that run the Dart tag accounts now? If they're going to be made redundant, they might not want to be too helpful. I'm sure that's why the queues have been so bad the last few months, poorly maintained equipment and staff that no longer give a st....

I had the welcome pack this morning via email. Looks like I need at least one new tag. I have three tags at the moment, two are the original large ones and one of those packed up last month. So I've been sharing one between 2 cars thinking od only need to do that until the end of the month. I don't understand why we still need tags?
