Does anyone else find that a leisurely drive could be enhanced by knowing that supper would made of some particularly fine, local, fresh produce?

Have you stumbled across somewhere worth a detour for, and that you wouldn't mind sharing?

Bonus points if they also serve a really good food on the day.

List for starters, thanks to those below:

The only one I generally keep going back to is McNades down near Faversham. If anyone knows of any other decent ones in the north of Kent, I'd like to know.

Elder St Farm Shop and Deli in Wimbish (a few miles south of Saffron Walden) in North Essex is really good. A long way if you are based in Kent but go early for some cracking roads that are often quiet, have one of their bacon sarnies, buy your supper and head back home. I'm not too clued up south of Chelmsford but I know of a few good routes north from there to the shop.

Perry court farm on the A28 between Canterbury and Ashford is good and has a great selection of cheeses too.

Can vouch for The Good Shed in Canters, great food and most of it very reasonably priced.

Biddenden Vineyard

They do some lovely posh ciders. Their Special Reserve is amazing. If I searched hard enough, I could probably find it more local to me, but I just enjoy going for a drive down to Biddenden to buy it from the shop tbh smile
