Wow! Stroke of luck. I'm at Leigh on sea with our young nephew and 1 of the Lancasters just took off from Southend and flew over smile

Mate - that is superb.
I'll be at Southend tomorrow to see them depart. Can't wait.

Fantastic. I've been on call all week and usually spend a lot of time around Southend when on call. Typically I've not been down there at all this week.

They released some cracking shots of the flight with the Vulcan. Really like this one

Thinking of going down Southend to have a look. Where's the best place to stand to watch them, what's the parking like? I see there's a hole in the bushes on Southend road where the landing lights are?? biggrin

I got there just in time before they left! I hastily abandoned the car in a side road and watched from here.
They were lined up behind the OLE gantry to the right of the tree. Didn't check my watch but I think it was close to 1pm.

There were only about 6 people there other than me.

I would have had a much better vantage point from the B1013 at the opposite end of the runway where they would be starting to climb after take off. The problem is there nowhere to park on that road and I wouldn't have had time to get over there, find somewhere to leave the car, and walk back.
I can't find my USB cable atm so can't download the pics from my camera. curse
