Did anyone else see them?

I was aware that the Canadian aircraft was in the country and that the pair would be participating in airshows. But to see them go low over your own back garden is a bit special.

I doubt I will ever see that again!

You might, I think they are parked up at Southend for a week or so!!. They landed there earlier, although I'm up North so this is hearsay.

woohoo I'm off this week

ETA and yes I saw them on Saturday too. I was sat on the loo when I heard the distant sound of merlin engines ears and just caught the back end of them.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/aviation/11033148/...

And from Wikipedia: FM213 departed Hamilton, Ontario on 4 August 2014, to take part in a series of events in formation with the world's only other airworthy Lancaster, PA474 during August and September. The North Atlantic crossing included en-route stops at Goose Bay Canada, Narsarsuaq Greenland, and Keflavik Iceland before arriving at RAF Coningsby, home of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.[3] This is reported to be the first Atlantic crossing of a Lancaster since 1975

I was at a friends house in Greenhithe on Saturday when they flew over (in the direction of Essex). First time I've seen 2 together, probably the last time I'll see them too.

I could hear & see them coming. As they went overhead - quite low - they were setting off car alarms!
I'm thinking of heading down to Southend Airport on the Saturday, the trick may be to get the train there as I doubt if you'll be able to park close?

I saw them at Eastbourne on Saturday. What an utterly awesome, once-in-a-lifetime experience.

They flew directly over my house. Really low. Unbelievable sound of those RR Merlin's.

That was better than being at an airshow - and you got the Spitfire & Hurricane too!

I'm thinking of going down on Saturday to Southend Airport.
Does anyone know more details other than they will take off between 11am and 2pm?

I live just down the road from the Airport and had a great days viewing on Saturday of the Hurricane, Spitfire, both Lancasters and the BOB C47.

For the price they want for a few hours viewing, get yourselves down to Wings and Wings at Dunsfold this weekend as that's where they will be displaying, as will the Vulcan Bomber ! smile

Last saturday people were parking where they could to see the Lancs and Spitfires. There isn't a lot of free parking, other than the retail area or roads.
You can stand on the end of the platform and watch over the top of the Vulcan. But if you walk around the old terminal, you might get to chat with some of the crews, as both BBMF and Canadians were coming to the fence to chat last weekend.

As for flight details, not certain, but they are due at Detling for 1:10, it will take them 10 minutes to get there.

Keep an eye on the BBMF's news page for their departure time
