Evening all, had to leave the car at work tonight as it won't charge the battery, suspect the diodes in the alt have failed. Can anyone recomend somewhere in Kent (medway/Maidstone) that can test and repair Bosch alternators? Would rather not have to but a whole new one.

Bosch main agent in Maidstone. Also used South Eastern Autoelectrics http://www.seaes.co.uk/ in Tovil in the past with great success.

Place behind Chatham station on Ordnance Street. Took 2 in in the morning and told they'd be a while as they were closing for a fortnight. Got a call a couple of hours later to say they had both been done. Was shocked when given the bill too. Well cheap.

Is that Taspares? Never used them so tend to forget them, I know others who have though.

I did phone South Eastern Auto Elec on Wednesday after pulling the alternator off in work car park much to the bemusement of my work colleagues. Did it in under 10 mins though which shut them up. Guy on the phone was helpful but about to go home early for new years eve.

I'l try TA Spares first as they're much closer, taking my other car down to Rochester in the morning for it's MOT so will be passing anyway on the way home. If they're no good I'll go down to South Eastern.

cheers again smile

Can't remember what they were called but temember they were in a small parade of shops if that helps. Were recommended by a friend that runs a garage - they've used him for years apparently.

Yep that's the one, proper old school place full of cardboard boxes on racking full of bits. Took it down there this morning, hopefully he will come up trumps :-)
