several planes circling over medway towns tonight?

Just returned from a trip to Dockside , my dughter noticed several planes 4-5 that seamed to be circlingthe medway towns . Does anyone have any ideas why they were doing this ?

Didn't notice myself, but a Chinook did rumble overhead.

yrs we saw the Chinook and again this afternoon near Bluebell hill.

They have just reported on the news that 2 Russian Bombers flew up the channel yesterday causing Tornados to be scrambled and civilian traffic to be rerouted. I guess we saw the result.

But that was off the South Coast of Bournemouth, but in International airspace. It would be a bit alarming if they got as far as the Medway Towns. The QRA planes were Typhoons.

There has been quite a bit of Chinook activity over London lately - military exercises perhaps in the event of terrorist issues or civil unrest?
