I did feel for the guys turned away in the in the Carrera 2s and Caterhams, 10 of them is just not interesting, when there is limited space.
Where do they park then, do you know?

I used to go when it first started up and was hoping to get along again this year. Shame it's not on first come first served any more.

...and yes I own a Caterham.

Unless I have misunderstood it is if you arrive early but later on they get more picky.

MI was the guy accepting the challenge of organising the parking. No one, repeat no one was turned away until the main park was full and only 4 or so spaces remained in the gravel area down the centre. My aim was to allow a mix and that it what happened I believe. Within a short time the whole place was completely full and the few spots were taken by the Diablo, McLaren SLR, a F 430 and another Lambo. Cars I think everyone enjoyed having there.

So it was from that point quite simple. If you arrived a little later you would not get parked and as a side issue, if you were in, then you were not going anywhere very soon, which people accepted in good humour.

I have been attending for tha last 4 years and have missed I think only 3 months, so I have seen a fantastic selection of cars attend and made a few friends along the way.

Frankly the bigger job was stopping parking in dangerous places so that the event remains possible. To that end, the young guys in the C63 doing burn outs were not welcome and I told them to leave.

The caterham guys have been stalwarts since the start as have many of the Porsche guys.. The fact is the whole thing is possible because Gary the pub owner makes it so. Many people have been through in that time and many come back most months. Gary asked me to help and I am happy to do so.

Let's hope it can be as good again next month.

So I've probably already missed this bit, but where is there to park if you want to pop along and have a look at the good stuff and have a bit of brekkie?

Hey Matt, there's a fair chunk of parking across the road - that seems to be enough for the time being. It's certainly where I parked last month!

I think Ian and his wife do a great (and thankless at times) job. It is appreciated.

Is the Hare 'on' tomorrow? I want to exercise the 944...what time do I need to arrive in order to get a space somewhere in the vicinity of the pub?

Yep, and the forecast looks superb so could be busy. Probably aim for pre 8.30 for a decent spot.

Fantastic turnout this morning, and the coffee was excellent! smile I'll post some pics shortly. Loving the mix we get to these meets; couple of gorgeous 458 Speciales, Huracan, V12 Vantages, but plenty of quirky and classic stuff too such as the Elan, Alfa SZ, Astra 16v, RS500. Pub was rammed this morning, hope it's doing good trade for the owners, it deserves it IMHO....

I presume the red 944S2 was Rubystone? Nice, I do fancy one of those someday.

That was indeed me. I'm told they were knocking out lots of good breakfasts too. Most amazing thing for me was that the lovely Guards Red 3.2 Carrera was a car an old mate of mine owned back in the late '80s. Was fantastic to see the car again, still immaculate and in the hands of someone who'll look after it as well as Stu Franklin did.

Superb meet as always helped by some superb weather.
Carpark in my opinion was very well directed yet again and had a fantastic eclectic mix of machinery.

458 speciales... Common as muck around here. biggrin
