Hi,

I wondered if anyone had any contacts or recommendations for repairing minor scuffs on bumpers?

It's very minor and doesn't need anything beyond paint attention to fix. What's the deal?

Is it the kind of thing someone can actually help with or is it a case of leaving until a re-spray is necessary...? Thoughts?

You havent really given enough detail / pics to assess damage but here are the basics:

Black plastic bumpers can be brought back to life with some boot polish and Armor all, with surprisingly good results.

Colour coded plastic bumpers can also be saved, or at least made to look a lot better from minor scuffs- here are some basic pointers:

First clean the area thoroughly to really assess damage and gently remove any additional marks with something like Scratch X ( very mild) or G3 scratch remover. You can then see what might be required, ie chip stick + colour polish or something a little more drastic/ aggresive. A Dual Action polisher will take out a lot of minor scuff marks but some care is needed. The use of a touch up paint stick / pot of paint dabbed on a cloth and gently rubbed over the area will hide road rash or similar to a certain extent. Depending on the age of the car you can either purchase touch up sticks from Halfords , online from Chips Away for example or pop down to your local mixers to get paint matched and aged. There used to be one of these little places in Harold Wood not sure its there anymore though.

Once you have done the best you can also try WD40 sprayed over the cleaned panel. This is also another method which is shown to have decent results certainly for the " walk past test" in the thread below.

Ultimately if the damage is bad enough a respray is the only method to get the panel back to A1 condition.

Not sure where you are based but this chap travels in Essex ( certainly to Brentwood / Shenfield area from Chigwell ) and is very very good.

Chigwell car cosmetics. Grant. 07944 144611. He has a website also

There of course plenty of other mobile repair guys, chips away for example is a franchise so would be dependent on your local guy.

If there are any dents these guys are good:

Scott 07980 068102
Tracy 0800 458 6700 ( Dent Devil chap in Rayleigh) area.

Hope this gives you some ideas and helps....

All the best
