Newhaven to A1 or M1 North - anticlockwise?

Making a landing on a Tuesday evening about 9pm from Dieppe, heading north - would you recommend clockwise on the M25 or anti-clockwise? I`ve paid the theft fee into the Dartford crossing account but guess it`ll be past 10pm if I go that way anyway.
Ant preferences welcome, this isn`t my region!

Very little in it at that time of day. Clockwise slightly shorter and no tunnel charge.

Depends what you are driving - if it sounds fruity then use the tunnel!!

Ok - thanks very much - last time I was down there the volume of traffic late at night seemed to indicate that no-one sleeps! I`ll try anti!

Well made it home - jumped on an earlier ferry as the weather was bad - M25 clockwise @ 6pm. You poor sods....
