If anybody was caught on the A12 Colchester bound between 5pm and 7pm in the monster traffic around Witham then I apologise.

My Silver Dream Machine broke down and decided to stop (almost stood on its bloody nose) in an instant.

Electrical drama - I heard the fuses popping in the fusebox, all needles and gauges just dropped to zero - madness!!!

Thanks to VG Nash of Braintree for coming out as quickly as they did to recover me, and the two traffic officers who were as good as gold.

If anyone was late thanks to this drama - sorry. getmecoat

So after a few routine tests and some fault finding the fitter took the Alternator to be checked - it turns out that a small internal wire had broken and fused against the inner housing. This caused the Alternator to overload and was charging at 38 volts instead of 24.

The pair of 24V batteries had virtually boiled dry and the fuses were popping like candy - thankfully the batteries did not explode or catch fire - could have been a seriously nasty episode.

The new Alternator will arrive tomorrow and The Silver Dream Machine will be back on Poo-Patrol on Wednesday!!

I was lucky, I'd just picked up my new car from Colchester and heading back to Kent so was going the other way and went past about 12+ miles of tail back by my guess biggrin

Well you were obviously one of the lucky ones - no finger or salt shaker from you then!!! laugh

I don't suppose you were picking up a nice Black California from Lancasters were you? One went past Chelmsford bound. hehe

Nope, V10 RS6 cool

As I went past the traffic cops were still there and as your wagon says "Waste" on it my first thought was that you'd shed your load across the road so I was busy figuring out which button was for the re-circ air to avoid any nasty smells!
