I received a £72.50 penalty charge notice (reduced to £5 if paid within 14 days) for a crossing that I failed to pay for. Fair enough my fault for forgetting to pay (I hadn't set up an account at the time) So today I went on line to pay it quoting the PCN number but the system said no and reported 'transaction failed'. So I tried again quoting the same PCN number and this time it went through. Then I look in my e-mail and find two payment receipts for £5! One would have though that fart-charge would have set up the system so that once a penalty charge has been paid against a PCN number, it remembers this, and makes it not possible to pay the penalty again against the same PCN number. But no, it appears that they will tell you that your transaction has failed when it hasn't, and then let you pay the PCN twice. I phoned them to report the double payment but of course a refund into the account that I subsequently set up a few weeks later is impossible - all they can do is 'look into the matter'. What a bunch of CxxxS. Who specifies these computer systems - Toys are us???
