Having just had my engine block replaced, I am going to be picking up the old block from BMW and will make it into a coffee table. Anyone got any recommendations on where to get it cleaned (chemical/blasted etc) at a good price in Kent. I am in west Kent, but will travel up to an hour.

Chuck it in the dishwasher if it'll fit.

At about 50kg, it may fit, but a little heavy for the basket.
Gonna get the block bead blasted. Just a shame that BMW got rid of the conrods, so going to have to figure out another way to mount the glass to the block.

Dave, speaking from local experience (am in H'boro) there are two places that come to mind.

When I built my V8 coffee table I took it to beeverlimited.co.uk - just off A21 at Lamberhurst, who did a very good job. More recently I've been using AC blasting in Ticehurst for my A35 shell and BMW straight 6 wine rack. (I have an understanding wife!) biggrin
