Glad to see the interest guys, I am currently trying to get a list off all the teams entered. There are definately 2 teams from Lotus-on-Track, 3 from Team-GTM, Talon Sportscars, 2 Adrenalin Motorsport, Jeremy Phillips Sportscar Club and a couple of kit-car and car magazines entering teams. Thats just the ones I know personally. We are hoping for a full grid of 35 teams. On a serious note, if you approach the the race "seriously" you WILL have a good chance of winning and stticking it on your CV! Most are not serious karters, however some are pretty handy circuit racers and trackday addicts! Only thing banned is pit-to-kart radio (which gives unfair advantage at fuel stops for the "fun" compettitors). 3 guys doing 3 x 40 minute stints is probobly the optimum. Good luck everyone and come and say hi! (I look a bit like Harry Hill without the specs)

I have a Club100 track guide on DVD, might watch that to refresh my mind.

I also have a karting PC game with Buckmore park on it. Might turn a few laps on that as well. nerd

I was just happy to learn the long circuit, its been that long since i was last at Buckmore that they hadnt't even started making it!

yesterday was a damn good hoot. Started dry, pickingg up the pace nicely then bang, rain! slippery as hell on slicks, but bloody good fun.

what karts is it that we are using for this? I was on the thunderkarts yesterday

eek They extended it years ago. I remember going years ago then the bottom loop was the car park. I assume the club house was a shock, its the best karting facilities I have seen.

I love racing in the rain but then im nuts This is me at Clay Pigeon in Yeovil

It was the only race Club100 considered abandoning. They didn't and still sent us out on slicks, you had to pick your braking point before you could see the corner as the fog/mist was so bad. Me I loved it cloud9

Want a tip for driving in the rain? You know that point when you turn the wheel and nothing happens, you can see the front wheels are turned but nothing is happening and your still going in a straight line and not turning.

Give it some gas, it may seem like the worse thing you could do but it gives the front tyres some grip, you need to be carefull as the back will start to come round, then just feather the throttle and drive the corner on the throttle. You will be amazed at the amount of grip slicks give in the rain.

Can catch you out in a straight line as well. I was at Lydd (bottom of Kent) wet track long back straight, raining and on slicks. 50mph approx, full throttle and the back stepped sideways. The water builds in front of your rear wheels or you hit a puddle and you aquaplane, if you keep your foot in your can drive thought it.

Scary as st first time it happens, after the first few laps you get the knack or hit the wall evil

yeah, they did extend it many years ago, last time i was there was roughly ten years or so...

i must admit, as much as i wanted it to stay dry so i could get my practice in for our one, the wet was a hell of alot of fun! learnt the using the throttle to get grip somehow myself. had a few spins, but that was mainly through me trying too hard. managed a best of 52.88 just before the rain (ie the lap before) and they had been tumbeling by around .4 of a sec per lap at that point, so hoping to find a few more tenths bare minimum.

really cant wait for the 19th now, especially as its the same karts as i raced on Sun and the same track thumbup

The thunders should be able to get into the 48's, but I have not driven the new fleet. A freind tried the new prokarts a while back and could not get it sub 50 seconds.

I don't think a lap time of 48 seconds is for the new fleet. I have just been looking at the recent results on Buckmore Parks site http://www.buckmore.co.uk/content.php/23120 NO ONE posted a time of less than 50 seconds, the best was a 50.99. They must be slow karts, I have done a 48.48 in their old thunders.

Means you should be on the pace for the race thumbup

I don't know what the outright lap record is but I have lapped it in a 46.3 in a Club100 and I was getting passed, the top Club100 guys were getting to the 45's eek God knows what the 125 rotomax guys are lapping in.

Team endurance races,

Rookie - 2nd in championship
Intermediate - 3rd in championship
Premier - left without finishing a season

I don’t like the stop start nature of sprinting, I tried a Club100 sprint at Clay Pigeon once and nearly made an A final at my first attempt

I used to do the City Challenge (or whatever it happened to be called at the time) - Grey Ghost on here was my team-mate. We were imaginitively called '2 Stokes and we're coming' biggrin

I'll be there, full of enthusiasm, but short on practice. Tried to get well overdue track time on Sunday, then it snowed. Will drive the GP down, that'll be the nearest i can get to practice.

Cotty - own suit, trophy cabinet etc. You realise a podium finish is expected now.
Essex/Kent hotly tipped at the bookies.....

It used to cost £10 a race to hire a suit etc, when I was doing 12 races a year it made sense to buy my own suit. You can wash it yourself and know its clean for next time, the zip on mine is a it shagged and its fraying on the inside of the knees from the steering column.

Im an ok karter, would just like to push you guys a couple of rungs up the leader board, if possible, probably hit the first tyre wall I see.
