Was it light blue?
I saw a similar car in stanway recently, perhaps it belongs to the ph'er i was chatting to recently when I hired a car locally, after we'd done the secret handshake & bared our left kneecaps he mentioned he drove an aero...

Wasn't me in farnborough - was parked in footscray all day whilst I failed my MOD2....again! (3 minors, 1 serious for speeding :/)

Yeah the 540i will be fixed up, only the cosmetic bits done in, had the assessor round today who said 99% write off though - let's hope they'll do cash in lieu to keep the marker off it!

He said there is a chance they'll repair if his glass's valuation hits what I want for it though! (Only others are £5k - £10k, I pitched at £7k given this and the knowledge I'll be haggled down)

Anybody have access to Glass's to give me a steer on value? - 2003 540i sport, 130k miles, A1 condition bar a wheel refurb and mark on rear qtr and all options except for the annoyance that is no xenons or heated seats!

You bared your left knee cap? Well if that's what you want everyone to think I always bear my right.

I digress yes it was a light blue one actually.

Had the same scenario last year with my 328i sport, got rear ended, very minor damage to bumper but assessor warned me would be a right off so I got straight onto my insurance company keeping one step ahead, kept on the back of them nearly every other other day and eventually went "cash in leu" , was better off in the end, had the car repaired and money to spare!

Yeah only good thing is my chosen bodyshop didn't have a contract with my AMC last time...hence me getting it then!

The auto trader glass's guide puts it at £1,600...laughable when I'm asking/expecting 3-4.5 multiples of this!

Damage can easily be sorted:

Bumper
Wing
Bonnet/repair
Possible headlight
Undertray
Arch liner
Possible tyre
Fog light
Grilles
Possible slam panel (aluminium and assessor said likely bent...)

So all cosmetic really!

It's laughable to values they put on older cars - comparing well maintained tidy low miles cars with sheddy station cars.

If you find a decent local bodyshop please let me know, I have some bits I need to sort on the e36...

Will do - for invoice negotiation purposes Cooper BMW are going to be used but typically use Chappell's down near brands hatch who do decent work at a far more reasonable cost smile

Think they do, seen some others in for that a while back.

May need to be thorough on explaining the level of prep that you want done though
