I'm in Florida for business for the next month and going to go to the Daytona 24 hour. Are there any other PHers going and if so, fancy meeting up? I've no plans at present, other than likely arrive on the Friday evening and leave Sunday evening. Anyone want to join me? Or if there's a group already going, are you happy to have a hanger on?

Infield parking/camping sold out. Where are you planning on staying? I'm going, as usual, but live close by, so not planning on overnighting it. It often gets very cold after dark.

Just booked into a cheap hotel 40 miles back down the road towards Orlando. I plan to have a long day there on the Saturday and go again on the Sunday. Any recommendations as to what to do while I'm there? If I buy the infield and garage passes, how much access do I get to the paddock and pits during the race? Or does it just get me into the paddock before the race starts?

And do I need to pre buy tickets for grandstand, infield and garage access, or can I get them all on the gate?

The tix you mention will get you paddock (not garage) access and Grandstand seating is free at The Rolex 24. Pit access is only available before the start.
There is a walkway behind the pit lane separated by a chain link fence, so you can see into the back of the pit boxes, but you can't get pit-side without crew/sponsor credentials.

You can buy everything on the gate. The Speedway is huge, with a total capacity of around 300,000 - 170,000 seated - Rolex gets less than 50,000 so tickets aren't an issue.
However infield parking/camping has become more scarce in recent years - sold out this year and was full by Thursday before the race last year.

Not sure what you mean about recommendation on 'what to do'. If you want suggestions on stuff away from the Speedway in either Daytona Beach or Orlando, I can provide that - just let me know what you have in mind.

OK - "garage" tickets get you into the paddock. This is the one I mean: http://www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com/Ticket...

When I ask what to do, I'm not really sure how the event works and what kind of thing to expect. I'm a regular at the Le Mans 24 Hour, have been to the Dubai 24 Hour 3 times and been to the 6 hour endurance races at Silverstone and at all of those, there are things the uneducated could easily miss out on. Be it trips to Arnage corner, fireworks, particular restaurants to go to or which champagne tent is best. Is there an insiders guide to Daytona somewhere? Or is it not that big an event?

I live in Florida now so yes I am going again. I have Corvette Corral parking including a track parade lap at 08.30 Friday morning. My best mate from the UK and fellow PHer EricTheBrave will be coming over for the race. We are planning on being there from Thursday afternoon, should be there in time for quali.

PM me and I will send you my cell number.
