What are my options for getting a car?

I'm planing to spend around 8-10 weeks in AZ in the new year and was wondering what my cheapest option would be for acquiring a car. I'm guessing I can't purchase one, and wouldn't really want to anyway, so if that just leaves rentals, how would I go about getting the best deal? Or are there any alternatives?

You can buy a car but it is neither simple regarding a sale nor regarding insurance etc. I would lease / rent and you can get some good long term deals if you do some research. Try rentalcars.com as a starting point for cheap rentals over a longer period.
