The company I work for are looking to transfer me over to an office we have in Kentucky in the next few months (visa process is under way)
I have been trying to find cars I am interested in but am struggling a little. I seem to end up back on craigslist, is there any other good sites for finding cars over there?
Could I buy a car from any state and take it to Kentucky easily enough?

I would recommend you look at dealer websites for the areas you might be living or working in and look at what they have on their used car lots.

When I arrived in California 3.5 years ago, I hired a car for the first week. Arrived on Wednesday, walked into a Ford dealership on Saturday at 5pm, drove home a Volvo V50 at 10am the next day. The only delay was me making sure I was getting a good deal! The car lots here are FULL of cars, used and new that you can drive away more or less there and then. Best get something cheap and easy to start and worry about getting something better once you've settled it. I ended up keeping the Volvo for 3 years then bought a Jeep. Driving and lifestyle here is very different from the UK.
Oh, and don't forget to add sales tax to the price of the vehicle, both new and used! It makes buying and selling cars regularly quiet expensive...

You can buy out of state but make sure that the state you are buying in has a reciprocal arrangement with the state you reside in or you may be subject to double sales tax. Most states now do.
Sales tax is paid on the difference between the car you are buying and the car you selling AS LONG AS YOU TRADE. So if the sales tax rate is 7% and you buy a car for $30k you will pay $2100 sales tax. If you trade in a car that's $15k you will only pay $1050 sales tax.
Watch out for doc fees. If they are more than $150 they're robbing you. I've seen $700 in some places.
