There is a possibility I might be relocating with work in the UK, to open an office in LA in the coming months. Probably in the Santa Monica area.

Any PHers out there? Any Brits who can tell me what its like to relocate there? I have never been to LA but if the opportunities arises and the package is right I will be jumping at the opportunity.

Cheers

Darren

Hi Darren.I went on holiday to the USA last year (West Coast) and loved the place, especially San Diego, Vegas, California generally. I would jump, nay, JUMP at the chance to immigrate from the UK. The labour party has ruined the 'Great' in Britain...nowt left here now.......
Go for it...good luck...and enjoy the fantastic driving opportunites there....!

I've been to LA on business a few times and like it very much.
Normally stay in the Burbank area but have been many times to Santa Monica. Very nice.
And as said, San Diego is a great place.

I don't live there, but spent a fair bit of time in and around LA, as my family live up near Thousand Oaks.

If you have any questions about areas etc, drop me a mail and I'll get their comments.

It's a very expensive place to live.
It is the most traffic congested city in North America.
It has lots of air-pollution problems.
State taxes are about to get frightening.
Property owners need earthquake insurance (not cheap).

It's sunny most of the year.
It's glamourous, if you have the money to enjoy it.
It's the epi-center of mainstream US tech.
It's close to both beach and mountains.
Choices, choices. You could join the Crips - or the Bloods.

LA has both nice and bad parts. I've visited several times and now live in San Diego (relocated from wet n windy Glasgow) which offers just about anything you want entertainment wise. Cheap fuel, cheap V8 power or sporty cars are a plenty here. Also the women are of a lot higher standard than the UK offers. Visually at least...

I'm out in the UAE now, got fed up of the City commute!

I'll try and make it back for BTaP though.

What you doing in the UAE?

I think I'm going to miss BTaP this year, it's right in the middle of a scheduled work trip :-(

Made a move to the Oil Industry, as I used to be in Commercial Property - which was in somewhat of a decline in the square mile!

I'll have to see if I can make BTaP, I get leave every 3 months - unless I fly in for the weekend.
