I thought he could do it over the road in the other place? If not can he recommend somewhere?

I always use Wheels In Motion. It's in Amersham so a short trek away but well worth it.

I didn't think they can do 4-wheel alignment. Pretty sure they don't have a full 4-wheel laser alignment set-up.

Honestly, if you want experts, go to WIM. People go from all over the country. I went from York, circa 400 mile round trip.

I've used them a couple of times. Wouldn't go back now though - very expensive and broke a tyre pressure monitor and a pressure valve (separate wheels too rolleyes). To be fair they did pay for the replacements at several hundred pounds each, but I wouldn't go back...

I've just booked my Range Rover Sport to go to WIM from Reading. The website and the chat over the phone gave me more confidence that they know what they're doing than the likes of Elite or ALS (latter who I used to use extensively for tyres a few years back).

SWMBO argues though it's all the same machine, how can it be so different from place to place, when the machine beeps in the right places?

Places like WIM come up with the settings to your preference, so if you're staying with factory geo in theory any place with the machine can do it.

Yes, they do. But they also don't know how to use it.

I had the alignment done on my old range rover by Kwik Fit , I wasn't going to let them near but they promised me they had the full hunter kit and not the rubbish they used to have.

I watched the screens whilst they were doing it, they had the correct vehicle, they got it mostly green, and yet when I got back in an drove off it was dreadful, like driving on a knife edge.

Took it to Merits the following weekend, they plugged their hunter kit together, everything was red, wildly red, miles off. Corrected it, perfect.

So having the kit does NOT promise being able to actually use it.
