Likewise.
There is a run we do that goes via the Forest, some of the A22 and ends up in Eastbourne and to a nice cafe. Then normally on to Beachy Head after for some pictures.
Beachy Head pub is awesome, peroni on tap, good steak, great picture spot!

Can you PM me details on your next trip this way as I am 100% up for this.

I didn't realise there was a few PHers in the Lingfield area!

There's a 40 limit on the whole of Ashdown Forest and much of it is used for open grazing now too so expect sheep literally laying in the middle of the road on some parts
There are also big signs up giving numbers of times cars have been hit by wild deer.

Not an area I'd drive enthusiastically in. Too many hazards and since
the limit is so low, if you do get caught at any reasonably keen speed,
a big fine awaits.

Bit of a thread resurrection here, but I am also a Lingfield resident - I'd be up for an early more blast at some point! Keep an eye out for some PH cars around the village.

as someone who is trying to convince their partner to move back to rural surrey from beddington, am very envious!

Lingfield and the surrounding areas are fantastic, spent most of my teenage years here (oxted resident, friends in lingfield).

The flight path does go directly over the racecourse but the vast majority are landing and the noise is therefore minimal.

Nice roads leading to Edenbridge, some aren't. I lost a childhood friend recently due to an accident on Red lane between Oxted and Lingfield.

Pubs are fantastic and very inviting on busier nights - would also recommend the Indian place with all the fish tanks highly!

Hope you enjoy the town OP.

As you say, the pubs are great (I think that the Cage is best for general drinking and pub grub, the Star is good on a sunny day and the Hare and Hounds is great if you want a good / posh meal)

I can definitely recommend the Curry house and the Thai restaurant too - both are award winning. (they are attached to each other / run by the same people).

The Bengal Village Indian - the one with the fish tanks is run by the same people again believe it or not.

As for a run out idea - perhaps we could plan a Lingfield convoy to the next South East GTG Umair/Ironictwist arranges in Redhill (used to be even closer to Lingfield!).

It is indeed - the owner is also my next door neighbour! Run out sounds good.

The next Pistonheads South East GTG at Redhill Aerodrome has been announced, sign-up at this thread for Tuesday 19th Aug

Sounds like it's going to be a special one due to access being granted air-side so we can get close to some of the special planes and helicopters in the hangers.

All signed up - see you all there. Got the PH Twisted Defender booked out so I'll be easy to spot!

Cheers

OP - Lingfield and the surrounding areas are lovely... We live in the valley between Caterham and Bletchingley but we often go out around Edenbridge, Lingfield, Ashdown Forest areas walking the dogs.
