Hi All,

Not sure where best to post this, so thought I'd try here.

We're looking at moving to Lingfield from Wallington. We like what we see there, nice and small, easy commute to London and a few nice houses around.

Interested in insights from anyone that lives there or knows the area? Anywhere we should avoid? Anything we should know?

Cheers!

It's lovely there chap, a few friends live there/nearby. When are you looking to move?

The friends I mention will all be at the next meet I put together so you can get a full low down on the area before you make the jump. I assume commuting for you will only be via train into London?

Cheers folks.

My wife will be commuting to East Croydon every day. I normally work from home, and maybe once a week need to get up to London.

We saw a couple at the weekend and have actually put an offer in on one of them, but so has someone else so we're waiting to hear from the vendors at the moment.

It certainly seems like exactly the sort of nice quiet place we're looking for, so fingers crossed!

East Croydon is pretty easy to get to from there on the train, as i'm sure you know.

Let us know how you get on!

Good place for plane spotting

Isn't it on the Gatwick flight path?
Yup, some of them turn over it I believe. We spent Tuesday evening there and most of Saturday and didn't find it too bad.

Anyway, too late now, we've had an offer accepted. biggrin

Cheers folks. We had our offer accepted, just waiting for them to find a place now.

We've been sampling the local pubs. smile

Just wanted to come back and update you all.

We moved in just before Christmas and so far we're loving it. The rain made things a little interesting, but it's so much nicer here.

I genuinely can't recall the last time I heard a siren from the house. Neighbours are lovely - we were met with champaign and cake on the day we moved in!

Overall very happy.

Now I have a drive, time to get saving for something nicer to put on it! smile

B2028 from the race course to Mill Hill Hartfield Road is one we've enjoyed on occasion, and Rabies Heath Road on the way to Merstham have both been fun, but I'm certainly open to suggestions chaps!

Take Lingfield Road into Eden Bridge and from there you can go through Holyte and onto Ashdown Forest via Hartfield
Best off for an early morning run although there is planet of overtaking points.
And from the forest, there is loads of variations

There's a 40 limit on the whole of Ashdown Forest and much of it is used for open grazing now too so expect sheep literally laying in the middle of the road on some parts

I live just outside Lingfield in Newchapel and it's a lovely area, easy commute to London, the south coast and gatwick (where I work)
As said some awesome drives if you head towards edenbridge/tunbridge wells/ashdown forest.

If you're up for an early morning hoon, give me a shout!

Is that recent? We hoon that way monthly and I can't say I've ever had any problems. Plus, it's all so open you could spot them a mile off,

Likewise.
There is a run we do that goes via the Forest, some of the A22 and ends up in Eastbourne and to a nice cafe. Then normally on to Beachy Head after for some pictures.
