Just a quick straw poll gents.

The clutch (and probably DMF) on my wifes Touran 2.0tdi has given up, its on 96k so probably about time to be fair.

Its an 05 plate so its not going anywhere near a main dealer smile
Mr Clutch quoted £1050, Mill Lane Garage (Caversham) £986, but MS Autos just off the Basy Rd in Reading have quoted £630 job done, clutch and DMF.

Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth and all that, but thats quite considerably lower than the other quotes, just makes me irrationally nervous.

Anyone got any experiences of MS Autos, good or bad?

Thanks thumbup

I just thought I'd bump this to report back for others benefit.

Excellent service! It's a bit spit and sawdust, it ain't no McLaren garage! As stated it was for the clutch and DMF on my wife's Touran. On arrival I found the garage full of local taxis - Passats and A6's mainly which I found encouraging.

In a nutshell, they got the job done sooner than expected, they stay open till 7pm making after work collection easy, and they charged £40p/h labour!! They charged 3.75hrs for the full job. I thought that was very good.
More so, the cheapest clutch and flywheel kit I could find anywhere in the internet was £370. They charged £375 for the one they sourced.

All in all, I'm pleased - as long as it doesn't spit the clutch out anytime soon!

Hi...

Just wondering if you've been back to MS's since you had that work done and if so, whether they're kept up the good work you mention?

Sniffing around for a new garage in the local area.

Cheers.

One I would recommend just off of Richfield avenue is PL autos. Pop in there and have a chat.

Thanks Jake. I found their website.

Are they VAG specialists - do you know?

Try T&M Motors in Arkwright Road.

I have used them for lots of work on all my cars over the years. Fair price, great honest service and the owner has a TVR and works on lots of nice (M3, M5, TVRs, Porsche) cars and run of the mill stuff.

Thanks for that. They're round the corner from MS so maybe I just need to pick one for my next MOT and go from there.

Cheers.
