I stopped some lowlifes from stealing my car last night, I heard a bike drive past really slowly then stop and come back. Luckily because of the hot weather the bedroom window was open and I looked out of it. The bike had stopped next to my car and the pillion rider (with no crash helmet) got off and went straight to the drivers door of my car.

At this point I ran down the stairs and called to my wife to phone the police, when I got to the car they were both trying to get the door open. I yelled at them to get away from it, the passenger ran off and the rider shouted back at me before riding off (he picked up his passenger further up the road). Luckily I managed to get the registration number of the bike smile

The police arrived within 10 minutes and while we were waiting for them we could hear the bike driving around in the distance (very distinctive, either a broken exhaust or an engine problem). Police went off to look for them and I haven't heard anything back from them yet. As a temporary measure we padlocked the steering wheel to the driver's door handle, I will sort out some more permanent security today. This happened in Woking, Surrey - so anyone else in this area may want to take a few extra precautions too.

Not good news, but also not exactly sophisticated if they were just pulling the handle? I've got garage space if you need to hide it away until you get the security sorted.

They were successful later on (unless it's different people with the same mo)
Stolen BMW not a million miles away from you

That's interesting to know, I finally got to give a statement yesterday and it turned out that they had misheard the registration I gave them, so that has been fixed now - maybe it will help with the BMW theft. My incident hadn't been recorded as a crime because on Friday night we couldn't see any damage to the car. However on Saturday morning I was able to take a proper look at it and could see that something had been forced into the gap between the door and the body. I phoned up on Saturday evening to see if there were any updates only to be told no further action was being taken (because there was no damage). I now have a crime reference number, but I don't anticipate anything happening.
