There's actually 4 (edit - sorry 3, I recounted today!)semi hard standing areas spread fairly evenly down the whole stretch.
The islands are also perfectly placed to be right in the way just when the sight lines open up and give you an opportunity for safe overtake.

No doubt it won't be long until Barry overtakes and goes round the wrong side of the traffic island greatly increasing the risk to everyone!

Double check your speed down there what with the limit change and no doubt imminent camera vans (there are even camera signs up now!!)

Those roadworks have pissed me right off. They're even putting a fence up to stop the pedestrians from getting in with the traffic, so why the 50 limit?

Can't wait till the MPs come calling ready for the next general.

I thought exactly the same thing!.... the fences seem like an after-thought as they're cutting into the freshly-laid path instead of building them in at the time.

OK,I`m an old fart..When I started driving it was called road tax. What ever its called now drivers still have to pay it to use the road. How many other "green" taxes can you think of.
The point I was trying to make was cyclists do not have to pay anything, particularly insurance. How many times have you seen cyclists ignoring signs, lights etc.If one runs his handle bars down the side of your car you have little hope in him paying out. They all get encouraged because its healthy, etc etc.
It hasn't been "Road Tax" since 1937.
It hasn't paid for the roads for decades.
You don't pay it "to use the road" you pay it to pollute. Band A cars, such as the Volvo V40, also pay £0.
It is not an access fee, and those that pay VED have no more entitlement to use the roads than those who don't.

Hope that helps.

And from October we won't even get a Guiness bottle label to say we have payed (or not)

That maybe saving money but there is a car park near me where abanderned cars tend to be left

I could easilly have a look in the windscreen to see if it was Taxed
No disk or out of date and a quick phone call to the council it would be shifted in a few days

So now do I ring up regarding any old banger now

After having 4 cars slide off the meldreth/lower earley way roundabout in 4 weeks (through the new fence they keep replacing), it looks like they're going to dig up the roundabout, I think they're going to remove the inside entry lane "eastbound". I assume to try to stop cars (or try to) taking the apex.
They didn't repair the fence last time, but 2 days after they fished a car out of the ditch, another one was in there! lol

This is what they should have done in the first place, reduced the size of the roundabout so people did not have to swerve so wide. The only thing they will then have to combat is people not slowing down enough. Shows that they wasted money on everything else as I have hardly seen any walkers or cyclists on the new path.
