I'm planning on collecting a classic car on Saturday morning and it's tradition with us to take each new car purchase out for a meal. This tradition goes back to the early 70's with my parents buying new Renaults from a dealer in Bexhill. My first memory was a new Renault 6 and heading to a cafe for fish and chips. I've carried it on ever since my first car in 1987.

Anyway, I'd like some suggestions for somewhere to go for lunch with a carpark that's classic car friendly. Ideally, generous spaces as this one is 5m long, and preferably somewhere we can eat and see the car. This is as much for security as it is to gawp lovingly at my new purchase.

Somewhere reasonably near to Crowthorne. I don't want to drive terribly far, but it depends what you recommend.

Thanks in anticipation.

Pinewood Cafe is good. Massive car park and they won't care if you park across 3 spaces. There are plenty of car clubs that meet there so they are used to having nice cars in the car park. They do a great fry-up and cheap too. Not sure you would be able to see the car from the dining area but it's a pretty safe place as there are always plenty of people about.

I think the Thames Valley TVR Club eat at the new (ish.. it were all fields when I were a lad ) Peacock Farm pub just off the A329M ( its better than that sounds )

Also I go to the Stag & Hounds in Binfield. Its a little further off but they do good food and ale, but more importantly there is an AWESOME road leading away from it that I have taken many classic car club hires down. Its like my little Evo Triangle.

Map link of going down Church Lane...

We know Peacock Farm very well and it's a consideration, but I want to be absolutely sure I'll get a good space and I know it can be tight in there when it's busy.

Pinewood is a good suggestion. Hadn't thought of that.

Stag and Hounds... Like that! Thank you.

Was also thinking of Blackbushe Airport Cafe.

Please keep the suggestions coming.

This was going to be my suggestion, always car meets going on here and plenty of huge parking spaces. the brekkie is pretty darn good too.

OK, lunch at Blackbushe then?

Decent distance away for a novice in an old Mustang. Not too far away and the straight may present a brief opportunity to get above idle...

The Frog and Wicket Eversley Cross is perfect.
They have regular Classic Car and Bike/Scooter events, 10 mins from Crowthorne, better menu than Blackbushe, and can usually park right outside the front (or on my drive in exchange for a pint smile )

Thanks!

Looking at the awful weather forecast, I'll see how things look tomorrow.

I really don't fancy driving a 43 year-old old muscle car in the pouring rain. Truth be told, I know this particular car hasn't been driven in the wet for over 17 years.

May be Sunday at this rate. The Frog would work well in that regard for a decent lunch, but there's a bit of polishing / waxing to do as well.

Fair enough. If it's raining I'd likely turn up in a Merc diesel too as my convertible isn't the best wet weather car.

No, mine is a red 2001 MX5 in Finchampstead. To be honest it hasn't been used as much as I'd like lately as I've had problems with the supercharger. It's off again at the moment due to an oil leak. I can still use it without the SC but it's far less fun that way wink

The Frog and Wicket is good - the first Saturday of every month usually has a handful of Norfolk-made plastic cars out the front at lunchtime as well (although this might tail off somewhat now winter and rain is setting in!).

Stag & Hounds is fine as a pub but anyone would be mad to think the roads around there are good for "hooning". They are narrow, twisty and have lots of horse riders, sorry.

I pulled into The Frog on Sunday at 12.30 but the place was understandably packed.

So we drove to Blackbushe instead where there was far more space to park my Mach 1.
