We had a few of them out a couple of years ago and they're all much of a muchness. Like double glazing companies, they'll each trumpet how their system is so much better than all the other guys, blah blah blah. And they all charge a lot more than you think it should cost given the amount and quality of the materials used.

Having said all that, we plumped for http://www.conservatoryblinds.co.uk/ cos they seemed as good or better quality than the rest, and the sales guy was helpful and not too smarmy. They've been fine since.

One thing to really consider, though, is how often you're likely to open and close them. We went for electric blinds on a decent sized conservatory (7x3-4m) and there are about 21 different blinds. On one hand you think, "just as well we got electric as we'd never bother opening them all out otherwise!"

And we never really bother opening out the electric ones either.

Cool thanks. We've called those guys and am booking a visit. Ours will be 16 windows and am thinking of plumping for the electric option. There's nothing on any of the windows at the moment and the conservatory faces due south; it's going to be a nightmare in the summer!

I got three quotes; one of the bigger brands, conservatoryblinds.co.uk and a small independent. Independent had great product but came out too expensive, big brand was cheapest but heard horror stories of their service and I didn't much like the product, Conservatory Blinds came out somewhere in the middle and when pushed dropped a couple of hundred quid. I placed an order with them and they were fitted about six weeks later. I didn't go electric as I couldn't justify the added cost and with only 5 straight roof blinds it's pretty easy to do them with the "wand". Salesman was knowledgeable and the fitter was quick and tidy. The blinds look great. All in all I couldn't be happier! They definitely come recommended.

thanks for this - we had Conservatory Blinds round last Monday and ended up going with them as the chap was nice and seemed very honest plus a relatively small company, not the big names (we once ordered a door from Anglian, was exactly as bad as you might expect). Good to hear other positive experiences!
