Hoping that either of our friendly traffic police can help me out here. We witnessed some incredibly bad driving from a coach driver on the M25 today.
I've phoned the non emergency number for the area (met police) but they want me to go into a police station and fill in a form 996. Would this be the correct form in a surrey police station and how likely are they (the met) to take any action? I am guessing that I won't be the only person reporting him and as it took place at a junction I hope it was covered by CCTV.

We have a dangerous driving form that gets sent out, but unless there are other independent witnesses (or some sort of dash cam footage) it's not likely to be progress. Your call and the vehicle details would have been logged and if more than one person had called in then it would be linked.

If you had the name of the company you could always make a direct complaint about the standard of driving to them?

No markings on the coach, it was completely white. We did get the registration number. He left the m25 on the west bound a40 slip but then decided he needed the east bound a40 so stopped on the slip and then drove over the grass divider down a hill and onto the east bound slip. Panic breaking from lots of cars on both slip roads. I had a grandstand view and couldn't believe what I was seeing!

Edit: no dash cam unfortunately.

There's a lot of cameras (CCTV as oppose to speed..) covering the M25 so it's got be worth reporting as there might be footage..

I did report it, but I was told (by the Met) that I needed to go to a police station and fill a form in. As I don't live in a Met area, I wanted to know if I could fill a form in at a Surrey station and that it will be passed on to the relevant people.

That's some real muppetery driving!!!

I'm pretty sure that the M25/M40 is covered by TVP rather than then the Met?

The cameras are operated by the highways agency - Now Higways England, the cameras aren't always the best at catching stuff like this as the are normally zoomed right out (and probably pointing in the wrong direction - or is that just my luck!!). Generally you need to tag the footage quickly otherwise it drops in quality to the juddery security type footage!!

I'm not sure if the forms are the same, but I don't see why one of ours couldn't be filled out and sent to the other force with their reference number?

That's Thames Valley.

Sounds like terrible driving, by all means report but don't expect anything to happen, it will be filed and binned straight after reporting.
