Yes , the corner has been 'eased' but by doing so the edge of the carriageway is now no more than 50CM from the beginning of a very steep drop. Beforehand it was in the region of 5ft and you might have had a chance if you overcooked it to getting back on the road. Now there is no leeway, up the kerb and straight down 10ft. It should have been designed with a barrier, and the numbnuts that decided it didnt/doesnt need it ought to be strapped in a car and driven over the edge at 30 mph, If they survive, they might change their mind. And to think they get paid for coming up with this garbage

Thank you for your well thought out and incisive retort. As a driving god you may not have problems with it, neither do i because i know it is there,AND i am not a Elfnsafty worshipper, more the opposite, hate the buggers. When i aw it being constructed, i thought they are not going to leave it like that, but they have. BUT one day it may well NOT work for someone unfamiliar with the area, black ice, snow diesel spillage and then what?

I've seen people drive straight onto the hard shoulder to get onto the M4, not realising the lane has changed, and I've seen people change lanes far too late not realising the new system. It doesn't matter how good a driver you are, its how much of an idiot other people are, and with just a single lane now one crash will block the entirity of the A329M...

It does now seem that stretch of a329(m) is effectively a 50mph (or slower) zone in a morning because of the poor signage. Does make the morning commute a little trickier getting into lane on the a329(m) at least.

Oh and on the exit towards Wokingham.. Saw a van bounce off the kerb there last week, was lucky to not go into the aforementioned drop..

Hard shoulder where I've seen god knows how many people drive into is now coned off. Genuinely can't believe what a stupid junction it now is. I also noticed they've got a big fence stopping your line of sight when going from the A329M into Jennets Park. Just great all round.

I come onto the A329 via the Eastbound M4 every morning, and leave the A329 onto the Westbound M4 every evening.
Perhaps what they have done now isn't quite ideal for anyone who just goes along the A329, but SOMETHING had to be done.

At least once a week in the mornings the traffic would be queuing all the way from the A329, back onto the M4. It was such a regular occurrence that they had to do something.
In my wholly selfish view I much prefer the new layout as I exit the M4 and join the A329 with absolutely no delay now. In the evenings the junction from the A329 onto the eastbound (and westbound for that matter) M4 is more than sufficient for people paying attention to signage. I feel the problem is more that people do NOT pay attention, rather than an unsuitable road layout.

I can't comment on the opposite direction, as I never have cause to use that stretch.
