Dont waste your time they are not worth the paper they are written on.
Find or source a local reputable builder and pay them cash to spend a few hours with you going over the property in detail. Much cheaper for you much more reliable and you can be sure its done properly as well as ask questions at the time.

But surely its about the quality of the job?
I paid 700 odd for a home buyers report in july. It was ok and apart from some guttering and roofing issues it made do. But it did miss things.
However a good friend just paid for a full structural on his bungalow and when he got in found a world of problems that were missed. He has spent circa 6 grand so far dealing with rising damp, brojen render, water issues and various other problems. No recourse on the surveyors as anything missed is exempted from comeback in the small print.
