Thanks guys, not sure if I was ruining the scene wink

I have found a Tuscan MK1 which has had a full engine rebuild by sr8six and lots of other work done. chassis checked and waxoyled etc great condition.
under 20k seems good. Not an S model but I am after a car thats not going to want lots spend on rebuilds etc rather than a little more performance, and I prefer the rear of the MK1.

I am viewing the car this weekend with a mind to buy. Do you guys have any pointers or tips for me??

any advise greatly appreciated.
thanks, Jack.

Hi Jack,

A re build is quite important, if you don't want a potential big bill in the future, go on condition really and check service history and any previous work carried out ... Chassis outriggers are pretty good on Tuscans so you should be fine there...

If the car is local I'm sure one of the Guys will come out and inspect tithe car with you.

Or contact www.wiltonmorgan.co.uk and ask for Calvin he provides a service where he will inspect the car on your behalf.

Incredible cars to look at and drive.. I hope one day to get back into one...

Good luck Jack.
To be honest although they are a quick car most of the time you won't drive it to its maximum. When you do starting going quick there is a little voice in your head that reminds you of the lack of air bags and such safety features, although fibreglass can absorb a little in crash. On the plus side and the positives are high. You will get a lot of attention wherever you go. And the community is an amazing place for technical info and social stuff. Low speeds are a lot of fun is they pop and crackle like fireworks night !! Don't be put off by higher mileage cars they are well looked after. Engine rebuilds are always a good thing and check the condition of the outriggers.

The TVR Berkshire meet is every third Tuesday in Bracknell.

thats great, thanks guys, I have looked at a few and browsed hundreds on the internet but I am getting a "good" vibe from this one and the seller sounds sensible and genuine (on the phone anyway)

i'm torn between excitement and fear, as this will be by far the most I've ever spent on anything in my life (apart from the mortgage of course) I have been looking for around year now and my father says if I don't do it now I never will haha. he probably has a point.

I may well post after viewing on sunday and perhaps ask anyone on here if they wouldn't mind having a second look with me if needed.

butterflies in stomach smile

A Tuscan is the choice of a connoisseur biggrin

Whereabouts is the car you're seeing as if it's local then I may be free to pop along too if you want a 2nd opinion.

Calvin at Wilton Morgan looks after mine and many others so if you want a workshop/health check for it before you buy then he's your man!

Except that Virgin want me to pay for the ducting from their last cable chamber to my house frown
Then after a few years of debate they said as others are now interested a duct will be laid
and cable chamber put in, on my land - Oh No It Wont.
Told them to royally fking do one.
Will stick with Sky / BT and less grief smile

I have a dead boiler in my rental house so it's unlikely i can make it over to Ascot tomorrow. Best of luck with the viewing. If it looks like a good one then definitely get Calvin to check it out if you need a mechanical inspection.

If you haven't seen it already, there's a load of info here: http://mytuscan.co.uk and i think there's a buying checklist on there as well.

Is it advertised anywhere?

Well my daily beater is a 330d with a shed load of extras and for a soot burner its pretty quick
having had X5's before that it was a little strange to be driving something smaller and lower.
For work I have a couple of HGV's and the trusty Ford Ranger 3.0TDI which will be replaced with the new model very soon.

But the fun bus had to be a road legal 550+ RWHP truck and in full drag racing form will be over 850 RWHP for track use on C16, not for cornering but its amazingly quick on the straight bits and off the lights. Already time slips for 10.8 on the old motor which on the dyno was 655+ RWHP on C16.

Wow not many MPG for that beast, I think you need to move to america or buy a fuel barge wink I have an X3 for family use, its the 2.5 petrol e83, I must say it is a pleasure to use as a daily bus, well built, practical and functional and 200bhp its not too much of a sloth. do you attend the meets??

Well, I went and I viewed, test drove and bought! It is a mk1 2001 and had a had a full top and bottom end rebuild from st8six plus many more repairs done. I am a proud new owner of a Tuscan and am entirely overwhelmed! So happy and chuffed I have got one after all this time smile
any questions comments welcome, pics below with some info.
The engine has undergone a full top and bottom rebuild and upgrade complete with two year warranty, with 18 months left to run. This included the following:

- Crankshaft re-grind
- 6x cylinder liners replaced
- Refaced engine block
- Pistons machined to suit refaced block
- 2x Chilled cast camshafts
- 24x Finger followers
- 24x Cast valve guides
- 14x Uprated headwashers
- 1x Uprated top chain slipper
- 24x Tuftrided valves
- 1x Headgasket
- Uprated 1/2 time sprocket & bearings
- Chain kit
- Oil pump rotors
- 6x Sets of piston rings
- 12x Big end bearings
- 14x Main bearings
- Aux shaft bearing
- O rings & seals
- Alternator belt
- Consumables

Since the rebuild, the car has been used almost every day in order to methodically and carefully run the engine in, with strict adherence to the advice from the engine builder. At the 1000 mile service and examination following rebuild, the engine was reported as having responded to the initial run-in phase ‘beautifully’. During phase 2 of the run-in the engine has been worked only in accordance with specialist advice and has never been revved beyond 2500rpm with oil temperature below 60 degrees.

The motor is now fully run in and ready for its new owner to enjoy to its full 360bhp potential.

As well as a bespoke tubular manifold for even further engine performance, the car also benefits from the desirable front-end clear indicator lens conversion and sought-after hinged bonnet conversion to allow full access to the engine bay,
As part of a full and detailed overhaul, the car has also had the following replaced or upgraded by the same specialist in Spring 2015:

- New clutch, bearing and clutch feed hose
- New oil pipes
- New rear main fuel hose
- New gear linkages
- New fuel lines
- Full remote oil system overhaul including new pipework
- Heater control unit refurb
- New heater plug and connectors
- New O/S Engine mounting bracket
- New Handbrake cable
- Rear indicator PCB overhaul
- New Boot solenoid
- New Boot switch
- New driver door solenoid
- New driver window encoder
- New oil tank drain bung
- New oil temperature sensor
- New exhaust hangers
- Reverse light switch adjusted to ensure no infamous ‘5th gear reverse light issues’
- Chassis clean-up and Denitrol
- New roof removal cable

The following have also been fitted in summer 2015:

- New bespoke ‘Tuscan’ floor mats
- New full leather handbrake gaiter
- New full leather gear gaiter
- New windscreen wipers / washer jets
- New indicator lens
- New Boot badge
- New offside mirror glass
