There's always Horton Cars:

Whilst not exactly near Reading, everything I've heard tells me they're worth the drive up, and they do have loan cars if that helps?

When I had my V70 I used this guy a few times, really good - no fuss, well priced but no bells and whistles!

Basingstoke, so only 20-30 odd mins from Reading.

Been using ACC for at least 10 years. I would (and have) recommend them. Decent guys, got all the Volvo knowlwedge/equipment and fit genuine parts.

Sorry for such a late reply to you all, I ended up going with the specialists in Basingstoke. Very happy with the service!

Thanks sb-1 - I used them for the big cambelt service and they also found a bunch of other things that needed doing. It was expensive but they kept me informed and really knew their stuff.

Voltech - Richard Plumber - 07766 754410. Worked on my Volvo for many years. Very good and honest as they come.

I second this. Martin Matthewson is a real gent and knows his Ovlovs.

Taking my XC60 there on Wednesday for a service visit , so will report back after, with my own review.

Well my review for Matthewsons is pretty rubbish, as couldnt fault anything to be honest, so what can I say ?. They buy Volvo parts from my local dealer , yet manage to service the car for £150 less. I now loose out on Volvo breakdown cover, but have cover with a policy with my other cars.
If you are a mountainbiker, like myself, do take your bike. There is some amazing riding from the off. Spent 2 1/2 hrs riding ( and getting a little lost as missed some byways) but the ride was fantastic. So, buzzing from that and a bill that's more than reasonable , without paying for coffee machines and glass showrooms, means I have a new place to go to for my cars annual visit.

Another thread resurrection!

Having just bought a low mileage, but venerable C30 (which needs a timing belt change), am in need of an indie specialist.

I'm the Henley side of Reading (if that makes sense), so any local recommendations much appreciated.

Thanks!

My dad has used VMSCars in Wantage for years for his S80 and S60. Still uses them now even with no longer owning a Volvo
