I've been thinking about moving down from Surrey, mainly due to it being a bit less crowded and from looking, you can get more for your money house wise, plus I know a few people down there.
Could do with some advice about areas to look in and where to avoid, currently looking at Waterlooville and surrounding area-Rolands Castle, Horndean etc as they're easily commutable to Porstmouth if I switched to working around there and also close to the A3 for coming back up here, any advice appreciated.

Just which parts I should look at and which to avoid really, would need to be within easy access of the A3.

To be honest all the places you mentioned would be fine, along with Denmead, Clanfield, or if you like being nearer the sea then you could look at Emsworth. Some parts of Havant are nice as long as you can avoid being too close to Leigh Park.

The A3 has plenty of junctions so is quite easy to get on and off.

I have lived in worse places than Port Solent - if you like the marina lifestyle of course.
