Seriously, what the hell is going on today.
I travel from Sandhurst to Theale, cross country takes tops, an hour, this morning 2 and half hours, there appeared to be no reason for it!

I normally travel Caversham to Farnborough, but am working in Northampton today, so going the other way.

Radio Berks was quoting a broken down van and a tree down in the Heckfield area, both causing havoc on all routes running up to the A33/M4 J11. Likely to be that?

Heckfield was a problem, so I am guessing that could have been it. Cheers. It's so frustrating never finding out why!

Try the traffic this morning, all screwed up due to M4 being shut one way and two lanes shut the other.

Deep joy. The local paper is saying the M4 won't be fully open until 4pm.

I thought this was going to be about the chaos reported in Beaconsfield brought about by the annual charter fair...

Weirdly, my journey was not nearly as bad as expected this morning, unlike the poor lorry driver. Hope he/she is ok.

The lorry driver isn't ok. Just reported that he didn't make it.

Sorry to hear that. Puts my journey onto the back burner compared to what his family will now go through.

The trafpol in the area are reporting now that the eastbound carriageway between junctions 11 and 13 is likely to remain closed until early tomorrow morning now due to damage to the road.

Sorry to hear about the driver, terrible news. frown

I drove past heading westwards at 5.08 this morning.. fire engines were there, and they were working to shut the lanes down.
Can't have happened much before I went past.

Looked bad. Can believe he didn't make it :-(

Always a sobering reminder of mortality.

BBC news reported earlier that it happened at 04:50 so ~15 mins before you passed.

I wasn't aware of it when I left today London bound from M4J10 but given the torrential downpour, I did think it was unusually light so figured something serious must have occurred further back. Terrible news on the driver frown

It is indeed. Sad news.
When you see the size of a modern day tractor unit and with todays safety standards i'm surprised the cabs don't stand up better to a big impact. Sometimes i don't miss it.

Just remembered this. Company I did some work for between the tours, and the driver walked away with minor injuries believe it or not.
