I need to visit Windsor soon and am looking for good places to eat. Grills and Italian always go down well.

Any suggestions please guys?

Many tourist places but the following are ok:
Cattle grid
Saffron
Al fasia
Bills is ok for a chain
Don Beni's in Eton used to be fantastic not so sure now.

The two Brewers is probably my favourite but you'll have to book

Going to do that annoying PH forum thing of telling you your opinion is wrong. wink Cattle grid did a poor steak the one time I gave it a go, which given that's what they're supposed to specialise in is annoying.

I can't comment on most of the others. Saffron is actually quite good - they did a very flavoursome chicken balti for me. Haven't been to Al Fasia as Moroccan isn't to my taste. Bills, is a Bills. May as well suggest Cafe Rouge. wink

Bel and Dragon is my fave place to eat in Windsor, but you will need to book. Has never failed to be excellent. The Riverhouse also does a good steak. Crossing the bridge, Gilbey's in Eton has always managed to serve up something tasty too.

Yep. And the recommendations of PHers have almost always proved more useful.

Glad that you gave your opinion as it balances the views and lets the OP make a call. Mango lounge is a great modern curry as someone else stated, but I don't think Windsor is amazing for food. Lots of OK places and many tourist places which are poor. The 2 brewers is my personal favourite

Last time we were there we went to a French place (I think) just up from Pizza Express. It was on a hill and big on wines. Can anyone tell me what it is from that description?

Latino is great, try and get on the first floor Saturday night. They have music and like everyone to get involved with playing the instruments

Gilbey's is our favourite for food and service and Bel and Dragon is very good too. There is also a relatively new place 'Meat at the Parish' not been there yet but looks very good for steaks.

Most others are tourist traps!

That looks good will have to go when they open. Just tried Meat at the Parish' in Windsor and they served great steaks and cocktails but still prefer Gilbey's or Bel and Dragon

So which is best. I'm quite local but never bothered to go out for a meal in Windsor.

I must say Bel and the Dragon was exceptional.
