A wise man once said 'any accident you can walk away from, is a good one'. Glad your injuries are not worse (see an osteopath when everything stiffens up, you would be amazed at the difference). A bugger about the car though. Looking forward to an outing with whatever you end up with next.

True that, thanks Lance. Insurance company were going to give me either audi a3, BMW 1 series or strangely an astra vxr but seeing as they didn't have any of those available, I'm getting a Mercedes c350 E sport! Hybrid petrol thing with 275bhp and rides on air suspension which should be perfect for my aching body!

Not good news with car the main thing you are ok but looking at damage that would have skaken you up.

It certainly has, I've been doing scatty things all day, like trying to put my shoes on before putting socks on, feels like I've had about 4 pints for breakfast then done 10 rounds with amir Khan whilst taking about 25 calls from insurers, recovery, solicitors and repeating myself like dustin hoffman.

Sorry to hear this si_xsi.

Wishing you speedy recovery and a positive outcome regarding the next car purchase.

Hopefully see you on a Sunday morning run in the not too distant future.

Really sorry to hear of your accident Simon. frown

Looking at the photos that was quite a whack - I hope any pain clears up quickly and that there are no lasting symptoms. thumbup

Good luck with the search for a replacement - hopefully I will be able to attend on the re-arranged date!

Right chaps, I picked up my new steed today, so once I've got fully acquainted with her, I'll set a date for the drive that should have been. If the moron who ploughed into the back of me a few weeks ago could give me a wide berth for...well eternity, that would be amazing.

Absolutely fuming with how distracted she must of been not to see 2 lanes of stationary traffic half a mile ahead on a straight well sighted by pass, or even break.

Simon posted this yesterday:

I've owned a 2008 Mk 5 golf gti manual, a Mk 5 2008 R32 manual which had been supercharged to 370bhp and today picked up my second Mk 5 R32 2009 dsg completely standard.

Well having just returned from a little break in Bruges - Belgium, she runs well, but the ride is quite a lot softer than my last one as its on standard suspension, a bit 'boaty' and the breaks will need improving, but I can sort that in due course. The main difference is less power than before but still enough to have a fun drive!

As for a revised date, how does Sunday 2nd October sound for people? Same format as before, limit to 10 cars, I will email the route beforehand by separate email. Start point Reading Services Westbound on the M4, leave 7am sharp, end point is Reading services on M4 Eastbound. Please add your name to the list below if you would like to come along. Any questions shout.

Hi Si,

I'd still buy my old car back from insurance and swap the engine over.

Count me in for the drive.

I would be well up for this - my cars in having its engine forged and the turbo/associated work done on the proposed date.

Is there still a plan to make this more regular?

I've organised a few runs before and they seemed to go down well, will see how this one goes and all well I'd be happy to set something up say every 2-3 months. Should give you time to run the new engine in thumbup

The key is finding a date which suits all - very difficult unfortunately, and choosing a good route. The earlier in the day the better really, to avoid Sunday slow coaches!
