I need a VAG ignition coil tomorrow after 1pm, does anyone know a shop or motor factor within reach High Wycombe? CarSpares in Cheshunt have them but close at 1pm, Halfords and Europarts can't get one until Tuesday. I guess the VW dealers' spares depts are all closed on Sundays? Somewhere in London, perhaps?

Dont know if they'll be able to help, but Apsley car spares near Hemel have always been good for me - but that does sound a tricky part for a Sunday.

Autopartz is near Morrisons in High Wycombe and I think they're open on Sundays. Their number is 01494 530333.

Sunday till 3pm, thanks. "Any part for any car"... sounds hopeful.

They are indeed, in fact I was over there (also from HW) a few weeks ago for a brake pipe for my daughter's 1984 Bedford camper van. 01923 225007 or 226766 Midnight Motors Good Luck

hey used to cut them to length and flare the ends, I don't remember the name of the chain-smoker who owned the place 1/3rd of a century ago? Al?
Indeed. I remember rushing over there one Sunday pm mid rear axle change on a Mk3 Cortina for a new copper brake pipe.About 1984 IIRC.

He doesn't want to put greasy fingerprints on his keyboard, so we'll have to await the end of the job!

Autopartz in Wycombe were great, and really good price. Unfortunately I discovered that 2 coil packs are playing up, obviously 10 minutes after they closed frown

Midnights had a non-brand coil but more expensive and I couldn't be bothered to drive there. She'll have to survive without the car tomorrow. But I hate the fact I didn't get it fixed. However we're now sitting in what's left of Wycombe A&E as my 8 year old is burning up, so the car's out of my mind.

Back to Autopartz tomorrow, thanks for your help.

Make sure that you keep a wary eye on the cock-up potential with regard to your child. Sit there and mug up on sepsis symptoms - nurses often miss them. This is a million times more important than any car. Good Luck!

Another coil pack from Autopartz and a little OBD work has fixed the misfire & cleared the emission warning, I'd recommend them to PH-ers in Bucks Berks & beyond. Stoke Mandeville is a whole different kettle of fish but fortunately she's home (I think they were short of beds) so end of thread. It's a shame 100,000 people around Wycombe don't have A&E, a children's ward or a proper maternity unit.

Thanks for the help, I thought PH was full of people arguing, not helping each other?

Glad hear she's okay! A family member of mine was in Stoke with a serious infection a little while ago and they sorted her very effectively and quickly. She was in a positive pressure isolation room while they dealt with her - most impressed and not at all like the local wisdom would have you believe. Parking is a nightmare though; at Wcombe you can at least park in the street outside for 50p for an hour by the old gas works.
